With a rich mythology filled with gods, frost giants, enchanted suits of armor and other powerful creatures, Chris Hemsworth is bound to face some difficult foes when he wields the mighty hammer Mjolnir as the title character in director Kenneth Branagh's "Thor" for Marvel Studios.
But there's perhaps no single opponent greater than Loki, Thor's mischievous half-brother played by English actor Tom Hiddleston. In fact, Hemsworth confirmed to MTV News that he shares a major fight sequence opposite Hiddleston in "Thor," something that was both amusing and somewhat terrifying to film.
"Yeah, we did, actually," Hemsworth confirmed to MTV News when asked if Thor will battle Loki in the film. "It was funny."
"We had a big rehearsal process with one particular fight scene we were doing and the whole time, Tom had his staff and his Loki helmet on with the horns," Hemsworth remembered. "He always wore it in rehearsals while he moved, so basically he's sweating and he can't hear anything because [the helmet] is extraordinarily heavy. He had this kind of crazy look in his eyes, and the whole time I was thinking, 'He's going to kill me!' He's swinging his staff and catching me in the legs and in the fingers and I kept thinking, 'He's going to hurt somebody.'"
"But the day we shot the scene, I ended up elbowing him in the nose! Rivers of blood were on the set by accident," he continued. "Subconsciously, maybe it was on purpose — but I didn't do it consciously!"
