Ryan Reynolds accompanied new "Green Lantern" footage at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday, and he came prepared to discuss reactions to his costume for the movie. He also presented an off-the-cuff explanation of why it looks the way it does.

"Well, the ring basically is a biological manifestation of its wearer, and that's the mythology that we're sticking to, and that's the mythology Geoff Johns wants to stick to, and I completely agree with him," Reynolds told MTV News.

As far the complaints that have emerged since the suit was revealed, Reynolds would prefer that his outfit be discussed in passionate fanboy arguments than not be talked about at all. Read More...

Captain AmericaThere was no small amount of news and blazing-hot footage coming out of this year's Marvel movie panel at Comic-Con. So without any further introduction, here's what happened:

6:45
After a late start due to, well... a stabbing incident... things got underway with Kevin Feige taking the stage.

"I think by the end of this panel that skepticism might go away," said Feige of the uncertainty that has long surrounded Marvel's ambitious movie plan. "It's extremely difficult and it's never been done before... for a reason. Everyone needs to be assembled properly."

And like the "Green Lantern" panel, this one kicked off with some early footage, offering the first official look at Chris Evans in costume. Read More...

Joss WhedonJoss Whedon feels comfortable talking about his role directing "The Avengers" now, and even though he's still keeping story details under wraps, he did go on the record to state that the movie won't be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's "Civil War." He did promise to let Captain America and Iron Man butt heads, however.

"You know 'Civil War' comes from what's great about the dynamic between [Captain America and Iron Man]," Whedon told io9. "And so does 'The Avengers,' they definitely are at odds. But it's not a 'Civil War' thing because it existed before that, at least in my mind."

Ultimately, Whedon said that he believes the tension in "The Avengers" and "Civil War" will be rooted in the same issues at the heart of the Avengers team and who Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are deep down inside. Read More...

"Ghost Rider 2" will still feature Nicolas Cage, and he has great expectations for the "Crank" writing/directing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who will help him take his character to the land of Dracula. The film may not be far enough along to promote at San Diego Comic-Con yet, but Cage was willing to discuss his immediate plans.

"I'm gonna have a meeting with [Neveldine and Taylor] shortly in the next few days," Cage told MTV News. "I'm excited to talk with them about it, and I'm very hopeful that with their enthusiasm and energy this will be an exciting movie as well."

The actor, who first played Johnny Blaze in 2007 under director Mark Steven Johnson, didn't mention anything about bringing Marvel's Dracula incarnation into the film, but he is psyched about seeing the real-world historical figure's castle. Read More...

Green LanternWarner Bros. brought the whole "Green Lantern" crew to Comic-Con this year, and a crowded hall got their first look at Ryan Reynolds in action as DC's ring-wielding hero Hal Jordan. Here's a moment-by-moment report of what happened:

DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer and celebrated "Green Lantern" comic writer Geoff Johns was the first panelist to take the stage. Acknowledging that this is the "first 'Green Lantern' movie panel in history," he introduced the first footage from the much-anticipated film.

The footage kicked off with a pulsing Green Lantern symbol against a black background, explaining that the person hearing it has been chosen to wield great power "if you will it..." Read More...

"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" star Michael Cera's involvement in film's Scott Pilgrim Experience at San Diego Comic-Con this week wasn't limited to just making T-shirts. As it turns out, he hung out in line and posed for a picture or two. The funny part is that the fans taking the photos didn't necessarily know who they were shooting.

"I'd like to point out that we have the Scott Pilgrim Experience, where we can make T-shirts and stuff, and Michael — as some actors do go out on the floor with a mask on — Michael put a mask on and lined up for his own Scott Pilgrim Experience in disguise," director Edgar Wright told MTV News.

Cera corroborated the story, and sounded like he enjoyed himself thoroughly. Read More...

Zack Snyder and his "300" co-writer Kurt Johnstad have teamed up once again to write the screenplay for Frank Miller's follow-up miniseries "Xerxes." The "Watchmen" director still hasn't spoken to Gerard Butler about a cameo, but he sat down at San Diego Comic-Con to clarify how "Xerxes" will related to "300" and how he's approaching the new adaptation.

"Yes, I am in fact writing it," Snyder told MTV News. "Kurt and I are writing it right now using Frank [Miller]'s graphic novel that he's creating as our spine, as our jumping off point, as our Bible. Frank came up with a cool story, and it parallels "300" in a really cool way."

Snyder emphasized that the story won't be a true prequel or sequel, since its events coincide with what happened in "300." Read More...

The Green HornetBy Ryan Downey

At long last, Seth Rogen has brought "The Green Hornet" to Comic-Con, and he made the arrival official with a panel Friday night. Here's the minute-by-minute report:

5:31
Seth takes the stage. "I'm sorry if you were expecting Ryan Reynolds," he joked. "He's in another kickass comic book movie. And for the record I know he can kick my ass. I'm tired of being asked that."

5:32
Footage begins. The first cheer in the footage was for Christoph Waltz. The footage is not in 3D.

5:38
Michel Gondry, Waltz, Evan Goldberg, and producer Neil Moritz join Seth on stage. Seth begins by saying he and Evan always wanted to make a hero / sidekick movie. "The challenge was to make [all of the references to prior incarnations] feel organic," he said. Read More...

Earlier this week, we gave you a teaser for "The Goon" footage that debuted during tonight's panel at Comic-Con, and now we have something more... a lot more, in fact!

The new footage is a longer clip created by Blur Studios to showcase the project, which is based on Eric Powell's celebrated Dark Horse Comics series and produced by award-winning filmmaker David Fincher. "The Goon" team is looking for a studio to snatch up the project and finance production, and after seeing the footage here it probably won't be long until that happens.

Just in case you haven't been following our coverage of the film, The Goon is voiced by Clancy Brown, with Paul Giamatti providing the voice of Franky. Powell wrote the script for the film. Read More...
