"Red" has arrived at Comic-Con, and along with talking to Bruce Willis on the first of our MTV/MySpace Live Shows, we also managed to snag some time with "Red" comic creators Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. I brought them by Splash Page HQ to chat about the film, the comic, and where the two projects meet... and where they diverge.

In this segment from our interview (don't worry — there's a lot more coming from both creators), I ask Ellis how he thinks the much-discussed differences from the comic will affect the film's source material, and whether it's a good or bad thing when audiences come into a film aware of such differences.

"I think that remains to be seen," said Ellis. "I think that anyone who watches the film and reads the book will quite clearly be able to see the book within the film — it's there at the core." Read More...

XerxesFrank Miller's "Xerxes" miniseries won't be out for a while from Dark Horse, but Zack Snyder has already begun work on the film's screenplay, and his co-writer from "300" Kurt Johnstad has returned for the project, which Snyder says is neither a sequel nor a prequel.

"We closed the writing deal on 'Xerxes.' We started writing about a week ago," Snyder told the Los Angeles Times. "So we're doing it. It's happening."

Snyder hasn't been locked in to direct yet, but he expressed hope that Warner Bros. would bring him back. Read More...

Comic-Con Odin's throneIf you weren't able to grab a flight out to Comic-Con International in San Diego this year, Twitter makes for a fine alternative. The show opened up for its annual Preview Night Wednesday, and nearly everyone present from the Twitter Report feed had an opinion, a picture or both. Marvel's recently anointed senior VP of creator and content development C.B. Cebulski posed for a shot in Odin's throne, which is on display there along with Thor's hammer. Eric Powell, meanwhile, wandered over to the "Walking Dead" exhibition, and David Petersen was working on a Severus Snape commission.

Various lost things were found as well, such as a "Tron" press manual and $40 in the middle of the street, judging from Cameron Stewart and R. Stevens' respective tweets. Mark Waid unfortunately was busy working, but he would appreciate it if you had a chance to pick up one of the con's Starro exclusives for him. All of these adventures and more await you below.
