Kick-Ass 2If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the sequel to Mark Millar’s hit comic book series “Kick-Ass,” this is your lucky day... and week, for that matter. Why? Because we have an exclusive sneak peek at "Kick-Ass 2" (the comic), courtesy of Millar's new monthly magazine debuting this week, “CLiNT.”

Kick-Ass 2” follows immediately after ‘Kick-Ass,’” Millar told MTV News. “You see how Dave has inspired people to become amateur superheroes, Red Mist has inspired people in the sequel to become amateur supervillains. So what we have is two rival gangs of super characters getting together in New York.”

And what about the sequel to the mega-successful film adaptation of the comic starring Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz? To paraphrase the Red Mist, wait 'til they get a load of this! Read More...

Lady Gaga comicIt's been a busy afternoon in the comics world, folks.

Earlier today, we brought you an exclusive preview of "Fame: Lady Gaga 2," the sequel to Bluewater Comics' recent, unauthorized biography of the popular musician. Just a few hours later, BleedingCool.com reported that the publisher was sent cease-and-desist orders from licensing attorney Kenneth Feinswog on behalf of his clients, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber (the subject of another bio-comic hitting shelves in October).

In light of the report, MTV News reached out to Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis, who confirmed receipt of the cease-and-desist orders and offered his official response to the report and paperwork. Read More...

Okay, so "Scott Pilgrim Vs. JJ FeildWe know classic Captain America villains Arnim Zola and The Red Skull will be battling Steve Rogers and James "Bucky" Barnes when "The First Avenger: Captain America" arrives on the big screen, but a recent, unconfirmed report has indicated that Cap's counterpart in the U.K. could get in on the action, too.

For what it’s worth, film/acor database and noted rumor mill IMDb has an actor cast in the role of Montgomery Falsworth — a.k.a. Union Jack — in “Captain America: The First Avenger”. British actor JJ Feild was born in the USA, but if the site proves correct, he’ll be WWII-era superteam The Invaders’ foremost Brit. Read More...

Fantastic Four rebootWhether or not "True Blood" actor Stephen Moyer is in the running for Doctor Doom in a Fantastic Four movie reboot, Gail Simone has strong feelings about how Sue Storm should be cast, and she tweeted her hopes regarding the part (and Jessica Alba) yesterday.

Meanwhile, a "Firebreather" peek sneaked out at San Diego this summer, but further news may be on the way, judging from a Phil Hester post Monday. Make your own assessments after the jump, where you'll find out who in the comic book industry is unimpressed by "Doctor Who," what writing a TV pitch feels like for Warren Ellis, and what it looks like when artist Ming Doyle sketches Emma Frost.

Lady Gaga comicBack in May, we brought you an exclusive preview of "Fame: Lady Gaga," the comic book biography of MTV's 2009 Woman Of the Year.

Published by Bluewater Comics, the issue performed well enough to merit an encore performance, igniting controversy and creating quite a bit of buzz — just like the musician herself. This November, the publisher sends "Fame: Lady Gaga" back to the shelves with a new comic focusing more on her career instead of her personal life and impact on the cultural landscape.

Still, the comic promises to feature "all the hairstyles, stage blood, drama and costumes that make Lady Gaga impossible to ignore." Read More...

Wolverine 2Earlier this month, reports emerged linking David Slade ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") and Robert Schwentke ("Red") as potential directors of "Wolverine 2." And it now appears that another director has been added to the mix.

According to Deadline, Darren Aronofsky has emerged as one of the finalists to helm the "Wolverine" sequel. In addition to previously working with "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman on "The Fountain," Aronofsky has also directed several acclaimed films including "Pi," "Requiem for a Dream" and "The Wrestler."

However, the report also states that Slade may hold the edge because "he is coming off a big summer movie with large-scale effects, which makes the studio comfortable." Read More...

This weekend, rumors began to circulate that "True Blood" actor Stephen Moyer was in the running to play Doctor Doom in a potential "Fantastic Four" reboot. When MTV News caught up with the actor during last night's Emmy Awards, we asked him about the idea of playing the arch enemy of Marvel's first family of superheroes.

"Isn't that great? Isn't that fantastic?" he said, adding, "I know nothing about it." Read More...

Mark RuffaloIf Mark Ruffalo had been offered the role of Bruce Banner in Marvel’s original “Hulk” movie, it’s likely he would have passed on it.

As it turned out, the cerebral, medium-twisting Ang Lee-directed “Hulk” did little to help or harm the career of its star, Eric Bana. Yet, as the comic movie craze gained momentum, Marvel’s relatively young movie faction has sought to get the character perfectly primed for its team epic “The Avengers”.

Named during Comic-Con as the newest actor to play the green goliath, Ruffalo told Australia’s Sunday Herald-Sun (via What's Playing) that it was Robert Downey Jr. who granted him a fresh perspective on the potential of comic book hero movies. Read More...
