It turns out that at least a few comics creators out there like watching TV programming about sharks — Jonathan Hickman and Steve Rolston, for instance, both tuned in to Discovery's Shark Week and provided tweet commentary last night.
Elsewhere, 2010's two big comic book movie directors Jon Favreau and Edgar Wright were logged in with Favreau continuing to document his exploits on the "Cowboys and Aliens" set and Wright evaluating a kiss he received while promoting "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World." Find out what they had to say after the jump along with some biting words from Erik Larsen about Neil Gaiman's lawsuit against Todd McFarlane over the rights to some Dark Ages Spawn characters.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for August 2, 2010.
Shark Week pt. 1: @JHickman These guys on Shark week are insane. I really hope they don't have kids and stuff... I guess stuff means wives. Or moms, maybe.
-Jonathan Hickman, Writer ("Fantastic Four," "The Nightly News")
Shark Week pt. 2: @steverolston How the hell am I supposed to get any work done during Shark Week? This stuff is crazy awesome.
-Steve Rolston, Artist ("The Escapists," "Ghost Projekt")
@Jon_Favreau Back in the town of Absolution on the set of Cowboys and Aliens. This time no pyro.
-Jon Favreau, Director ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2")
@edgarwright Danny Bonaduce just kissed me on both cheeks live on the radio. That was a first on this press tour.
-Edgar Wright, Director ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World")
Gaiman/McFarlane pt. 1: @ErikJLarsen How anybody can look at Medieval Spawn and side with Neil just shows their bias against Todd. It's Spawn on a horse, for cryin' out loud!
-Erik Larsen, Writer/Artist ("Savage Dragon," "The Amazing Spider-Man")
Gaiman/McFarlane pt. 2: @ErikJLarsen Everything Neil created was derived from Todd's creations and all of it was designed by Todd. Claiming ownership just seems really unfair.
@CBCebulski To answer questions I've been getting: No, having your Marvel/DC fan-fic stories run online does not count as previously published work.
-C.B. Cebulski, Sr. VP, Creator and Content Development (Marvel)
@warrenellis Good morning. I have just bought my daughter a horse. This is not a euphemism.
-Warren Ellis, Writer ("Transmetropolitan," "Planetary")
@alexirvine I want Starcraft 2 so I can have an excuse not to work.
-Alex Irvine, Writer ("Hellstorm: Son of Satan," "Daredevil Noir")
@tonymoore it bugs me when people call them "a--less chaps." If they had an a-- in 'em, they'd be called pants.
-Tony Moore, Artist ("Fear Agent," "The Walking Dead")
Parting Wisdom for the Day:
@rstevens Your life's Episode IV starts at 30. Everything before that is just prequels.
-R. Stevens, Writer/Artist ("Diesel Sweeties," "LOLbots")
