Back in May, I spoke to award-winning writer Neil Gaiman about his upcoming episode of "Doctor Who" because, well... Let's be honest, I talk to everyone about "Doctor Who." It's what I do.
Gaiman wasn't able to shed much light on his plans for The Doctor (though he did share two very important details about the episode) when I spoke to him, but he recently discussed the writing process on his personal website and posted a deleted, spoiler-free scene that didn't make the final script for the episode.
The episode is planned to air next season, and the deleted scene involves The Doctor and a bowl of mystery food.
Here's an excerpt:
AMY
Is it something people can eat?
(to Doctor)
Shouldn’t you scan it with your screwdriver or something?THE DOCTOR
Why would I scan food with my screwdriver?
The full scene is available over on Gaiman's website, as well as some interesting thoughts on the editorial process behind the episode.
The next season of "Doctor Who" doesn't have an air date on BBC America yet, but you can be sure I'll shout it to the world as soon as there is one.
