We have a few months to go before the premiere of "Red," director Robert Schwentke's live-action film based on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's comic book, but that doesn't mean the project is far from our minds these days.

When I had a chance to sit down with Ellis and Hamner during Comic-Con, I asked them about the adaptation process for their 2003 Wildstorm comic, which featured a small cast of characters in a fast-moving, violent narrative. With the live-action film expanding the core story, adding some humor, and casting an impressive ensemble of Hollywood's biggest names, I asked Ellis and Hamner how much of their original book is actually in the film.

"The tone is very different, but there is a fair amount from our book that is in the movie," Hamner told MTV News. "The setup is pretty close, I would say." Read More...

Jason FlemyngWhen Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class" rolls into theaters next June, the filmmaker will have at least one familiar face by his side in the form of Jason Flemyng (pictured), the English actor who has appeared in every single one of Vaughn's productions.

At this past weekend's Movie-Con in England, Flemyng informed audiences that he'll have a role in "First Class" as Azazel, the demonic mutant father of Kurt "Nightcrawler" Wagner. Like his son, Azazel sports a devilish appearance and an uncanny ability to teleport from location to location.

Flemyng revealed to Empire Online that his character will sport red skin as he does in the comics as opposed to Nightcrawler's trademark blue hue — in other words, it's a makeup-heavy role, much to the actor's chagrin. Read More...

"Green Lantern" readers expect Peter Sarsgaard to be at least a little eccentric when he appears in the Martin Campbell film next year as villain Hector Hammond. At least some of those quirks may come from his verbal grappling offstage, though, which included an extra-challenging vocabulary word.

"I actually did hang with this biologist from Tulane that was I think just the most eccentric guy they could find. He was entertaining," Sarsgaard told MTV News. "And he and I actually worked on my lecture that I give in ['Green Lantern'], which I kept royally f---ing up because — what was it I had said — 'prokaryotic cells.'"

The veteran actor from "Jarhead" and "Flightplan" ultimately needed a little help from an extra to finally nail the line, though he admitted that the struggle may have ended with an unintentionally nuanced pronunciation. Read More...

Scott PilgrimThis week's list of top stories was filled with "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" coverage, and it's no surprise, since we brought you an entire week themed around Edgar Wright's new film. Whether it was interviews with the cast, a visit to the set, or clips from the movie, Scott Pilgrim and The League Of Evil Exes dominated the headlines.

However, there was still room for a few stories about Marvel's upcoming movies, as well as some television projects, and even a big stage production.

Here's how the week's top stories shook out, counting down from the #10 story over the last seven days to the most popular story of the week. Can you guess what it is? (Hint: It had nothing to do with Scott Pilgrim!) Read More...

The long wait is over. After years of development, director Edgar Wright has finally brought "Scott Pilgrims vs. The World" to theaters.

If you've already seen the film — and let's assume that if you haven't seen it yet, you're planning on seeing it tonight — you already know just how engrossing each and every actor in the "Scott Pilgrim" cast truly is. From the central roles of Michael Cera as Scott and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona, to evil ex's like Chris Evans as Lucas Lee and Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, everyone brings an enormous amount of talent and personality to the "Scott Pilgrim" table.

And just because they're mostly relegated to the sidelines of "Scott Pilgrim" action, the Sex Bob-Omb trio of Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil and Alison Pill as Kim Pine are no less investedin their characters. Read More...

Scott PilgrimFROM MTV MOVIES: "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" is the first movie to bring us, among many other things, on-screen battle-scoring, a visit from the Vegan Police, and a really cute kickass girl named Knives.

For most of its modest run-time (112 minutes), Edgar Wright's new comedy lays persuasive claim to being the year's most blazingly imaginative film. Well, okay, along with "Inception." But Wright's movie is also blazingly funny, something no one has yet attempted to assert about the Christopher Nolan blockbuster.

The picture is a dizzying creative leap for Wright, the giddy parodist behind "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim comics began appearing in 2004, and the director latched onto them almost immediately. One understands why it has taken him so long to bring O'Malley's fantastical stories to the screen — the cast, which is deep in talented young actors, must have been difficult to align.

When "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" was officially optioned way back in 2005, one of the first questions on the minds of the fans was who could possibly do justice to Ramona Flowers — the object of Scott's affections — on the big screen.

And while fans didn't get their first glimpse of Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona until early last year, even Winstead was surprised to discover that she could be transformed into Bryan Lee O'Malley's unique comic book heroine.

"I really didn't even know that I could look like that," Winstead told MTV News. "I think Edgar [Wright] knew (more than I did) that I could put on this wig, this outfit and this makeup and be a completely different person. I was kind of amazed when I first put on the outfit. I was like 'Oh my god! I'm Ramona. This is insane!' So yeah, I was very surprised that I was able to pull it off." Read More...

Scott PilgrimThe Mike Wieringo tweets kept coming yesterday, and Gabriel Hardman even posted a tribute sketch to commemorate the late artist. Francis Manapul, meanwhile, recalled what it was like running into Wieringo at conventions.

"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" reactions haven't subsided either, and now that more and more industry professionals are getting out to see it, some of them are wondering if they're experiencing a different film than non-comics readers. Find out what Tim Seeley and Reilly Brown though after the jump, where you'll also get Jamal Igle and Gail Simone's takes on Dr. Laura Schlessinger's use of the N-word.
