Got your attention? Good. It's time for free comics!
So... I receive a lot of comics in the mail each week. It's one of the perks of the job, but admittedly, it's starting to be an issue around Splash Page HQ. The piles of comics are becoming a little intimidating, and there was a little incident last week in which my office neighbor was buried underneath a fallen stack for a few hours. (Don't worry, she's okay... now.)

So that's why I want to pass along some of my paperback wealth to you, good readers. All you need is a Twitter account and some luck. Read more...

Even with "Thor," "Captain America" and "The Avengers" on the horizon, Marvel Studios is looking further into the future with plans for an "Iron Fist" adaptation.
Deadline reports that screenwriter Rich Wilkes has been tapped to write the script for "Iron Fist," based on the martial arts-inclined superhero of the same name.
Wilkes is best known for helping to launch the Vin Diesel-starring action franchise "xXx." He also wrote the screenplays for "Airheads" and "The Jerky Boys." Read more...

Well, it's pretty safe to say that our "X-Men: First Class" reader poll has clearly made a case for itself as the most polarizing question we've asked of readers in the history of the site.
Earlier this week, we asked readers to let us know what you think of the latest news involving "X-Men: First Class," the upcoming film produced by Bryan Singer and directed by Matthew Vaughn. The film features an all-star cast of actors (James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, and Oliver Platt, to name a few), and promises to tell a story from the early days of Charles Xavier (McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender).
However, recent revelations regarding the cast of mutants and story points in "X-Men: First Class" have created quite the buzz around the InterWebs, and readers were more than happy to voice their opinion about the latest headlines here on Splash Page. Read more...

The "Iron Man 2" DVD & Blu-Ray arrives on shelves September 28, but a new teaser for the release indicates that there could be a lot more in store for Marvel movie fans who pick it up.

Posted over at Amazon, the "Iron Man 2" teaser spotlights many of the special features on each format, as well as an exclusive Blu-Ray feature: the "S.H.I.E.L.D. Data Vault." While it's to be expected that the DVD & Blu-Ray will hype some of the Marvel's upcoming slate of movies, what caught my eye were a few shots that included specific references to Marvel movies like "The Incredible Hulk" and the scene with Captain America's shield in "Iron Man 2." Some people think that Ryan Reynolds will have a hard time starring in "Deadpool" due to his commitment to "Green Lantern." Do you know who doesn't think that? "Deadpool" producer Lauren Shuler Donner, that's who!
Speaking with Crave Online, Donner stated her belief that Reynolds' decision to play Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern" won't harm "Deadpool." In fact, it might even help the "X-Men" spinoff.
"Oh, yeah, sure," Donner said when asked if Reynolds doing "Green Lantern" might actually help "Deadpool." "It's very different. It's like Harrison Ford doing 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones.' DC and Marvel are different universes with different movies. But sure, the more popular and well known he is the better." Read more...

We got our first look at "The Walking Dead" television series yesterday in the form of a long (4.5 minutes!) trailer featuring the events transpiring before and after police officer Rick Grimes finds himself in a world of shambling, flesh-hungry zombies.
While we'll have to wait until Halloween night for the series' premiere, we'll have to wait even longer to get our first look at an episode of series penned by "The Walking Dead" creator himself, Robert Kirkman. When I visited the set of "The Walking Dead" in June, I asked the writer about scripting the fourth episode of the series and revisiting characters he'd left behind long ago.
It's fun going back and writing the thing, because I don't remember very much from the early issues of the comic," Kirkman told MTV News. Read more...

Back in May, I spoke to award-winning writer Neil Gaiman about his upcoming episode of "Doctor Who" because, well... Let's be honest, I talk to everyone about "Doctor Who." It's what I do.
Gaiman wasn't able to shed much light on his plans for The Doctor (though he did share two very important details about the episode) when I spoke to him, but he recently discussed the writing process on his personal website and posted a deleted, spoiler-free scene that didn't make the final script for the episode.
The episode is planned to air next season, and the deleted scene involves The Doctor and a bowl of mystery food. Read more...

Last we heard from "Avatar" director James Cameron, his planned film based on Yukito Kishiro's "Battle Angel Alita" manga hadn't progressed very far, but he had some big ideas about the visual effects needed to bring to life the story of a rescued robotic warrior and her quest for redemption.
While his producing partner Jon Landau previously indicated that "Alita" would follow an "Avatar" sequel in their to-do list, Cameron told MTV News recently that the adaptation might not be as far off as that. In fact, it might happen before "Avatar 2."
"They're both possible projects," Cameron said of "Alita" and "The Dive," another effects-heavy film that's been on his radar for years. "I'm sort of weighing this constellation of really cool things I want to do." Read more...

Bryan Singer's revelation that "X-Men: First Class" will draw from James Bond grabbed some attention, and that got Chris Weston thinking about the current state of Bond films. Doug Tennapel, meanwhile, took a trip to see "The Expendables" and posted about that experience.
Elsewhere, Jim Lee shared a picture from a restaurant where some Joker artwork was gifted to him from an artist named Kristian Rowland. You'll find a link to that down below along with Ted Rall's account of being suspected of being a suicide bomber and what it's like to deliver a package to Warren Ellis' home.

If you were one of the lucky few to attend AMC's "The Walking Dead" panel at Comic-Con, you got to see the first-ever trailer for the upcoming television series based on Robert Kirkman's celebrated comic. If you didn't get to see it, well... the wait is over.
AMC has posted the full trailer online, and announced the series' official premiere date: October 31 at 10 PM EST. Yes, the dead will rise on Halloween night this year, and I couldn't be happier about it.
According to the site, the series will kick off with a 90-minute premiere, then follow with 60-minute episodes. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Frank Darabont ("Shawshank Redemption," "The Mist"), the series has an initial six-episode order, but let's all cross our fingers and hope for more to follow, shall we?
