Five new teasers for the upcoming tenth (and final) season of "Smallville" have hit the 'net, and even though they're each only 5-10 seconds long, there's a lot packed into them.
Among the cool, blink-and-you-miss-it shots is a look at the familiar red and blue Superman costume that everyone's hoping to see Clark Kent wear in "Smallville" before the series concludes. Adding fuel to that fire is another teaser featuring a blur of color flying through the air around the globe that tops the offices of The Daily Planet.
But it's not just Clark Kent who gets the spotlight in the new teasers. Read more...

"The Last Exorcism" was one heck of a pleasant surprise: a character-driven horror flick that eschewed gore for sweaty-palmed tension and delivered some first-rate performances from Patrick Fabian as a disenchanted preacher, Ashley Bell as a maybe-possessed-maybe-crazy country girl and Caleb Landry Jones as her seriously creepy brother.
Jones in particular is an actor on the rise, a 20-year-old who graduated from the low-budget "Last Exorcism" to a meaty part in "X-Men: First Class," in which he'll play the sonically-enhanced Banshee.
In a recent interview, "Last Exorcism" director Daniel Stamm went into great detail with MTV News about his working relationship with Jones and why he's so excited to see the young actor in a big studio picture. Read more...

Sunday was totally packed in terms of TV tweets, with the MTV VMA's, NFL football and "Mad Men" and "Venture Bros." episodes wrestling for viewership, the comics world had lots to talk about. Even a few creators who had no idea what was going on on the awards were talking about it, while the Dallas Cowboys remained as divisive a topic as ever.
Whether you support the Cowboys or not, though, you should be able to get behind a few of Brian Denham's proposals for team names George Lucas could license to the NFL. You'll find those, as well as a critique of Rihanna's clothing and Paul Cornell's micro-review of "Inglourious Bastards" after the jump.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for September 13, 2010. Read more...

Sure, "The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale has cemented his status as the big-screen incarnation of Batman these days, but for anyone who remembers a time before Christopher Nolan — or even Tim Burton — got their hands on Gotham's guardian, Adam West was (and in some cases, continues to be) the Batman.
The star of the campy 1960s television series that played a big role in making Batman a household name, West has managed to keep himself active in the pop culture eye for decades now with on-screen television, movie, and commercial roles, and numerous voice-acting gigs. One of the most popular recurring characters on the hit series "Family Guy" (he voices an eccentric version of himself who happens to be the mayor of fictional Quahog, Rhode Island), West has somehow managed to avoid adding a comic book project to his resume... until now.
"The Mis-Adventures Of Adam West" will debut in Spring 2011 from Bluewater Comics as an ongoing series co-written by Adam West, Walter Fernandez Jr. and Arastao Maree. I spoke with West about the project, which will send him on a dimension-hopping adventure featuring encounters both fictional and within his real-life history, and received an exclusive preview of several covers from the upcoming series. Back in June, the creation of a new department within Marvel Entertainment dedicated to development of television properties had everyone speculating about the company's plans for the small screen.
During this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, I sat down with Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada to discuss those plans, and find out whether this means we'll be seeing some live-action Marvel projects in the TV world to accompany their already established animated series.
"We have a strategy at Marvel — nothing we're really ready to talk about," Quesada told MTV News. "What I can talk about is that it's a brave new world for Marvel. Now that we've been purchased by Disney, we're part of the Disney family. Our strength, our leverage is that much more." Read more...

Having experienced firsthand the ferocity and horrors of World War II and wars in Korea and Vietnam on both the national and personal level, like all of us, veteran writer/artist Will Eisner saw something nine years ago he never thought possible: a devastating terrorist attack on New York City and the Pentagon. While both attacks were horrific, the strike and subsequent destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City hit closest to home for Eisner, who grew up in the city and lovingly showed it as a character in many of his works.
Just days after the tragedy of September 11, 2001, MTV News producer Brian Jacks spoke to the native New Yorker about the tragic and emotional events that had gripped his city. Will Eisner has since passed away, but his thoughts are just as poignant today as they were nine years ago. Read more...

It's the Friday before MTV's big Video Music Awards event, so things are a bit hectic around the ol' HQ. Nevertheless, there's still a big batch of headlines from this week that generated a lot of buzz around the 'net.
From brutally honest actors to questionable costumes and casting calls, this week had it all. Heck, we even had a never-before-seen comic book movie poster to share with you. That's how we roll.
After carefully crunching numbers and conducting complicated mathematical equations, I've once again narrowed down the week's Top 10 Stories for your reading (or re-reading) pleasure. It's a hard job, but somebody has to do it. Read more...

Confession time, folks: I really don't know what to make of Taco Bell's "Super Delicious Ingredient Force" campaign created by veteran comic book artist Neal Adams.
Sure, it's funny in a retro-tastic "Sealab 2021"-style that twists the old "Super Friends" cartoons in all the best ways, but I can't help wondering whether the semi-veiled drug references, racial and sexual stereotypes, and interesting dialogue decisions are all part of the fast food company's master plan. (If you haven't checked out the campaign yet, I've included the first "episode" of the ad campaign at the end of this post.)
When MTV News caught up with Adams during this year's Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA, the veteran creator discussed the very unique ad campaign, and plans for a new, 60-second to air during this weekend's Video Music Awards on MTV.
"Taco Bell seems to have hooked into this kind of animation," said Adams. Read more...

The fate of a live-action "Hack/Slash" movie might be a little uncertain right now (though the project reportedly snagged a new writer late last year), but Cassie Hack will make the jump to the animated world next year with an "illustrated film" based on Tim Seeley's comic book series.
Produced by Halo-8 Entertainment, the "Hack/Slash" illustrated film (it's not a "motion comic," I'm told) will be adapted and directed by award-winning filmmaker Matt Pizzolo, who previously produced Halo-8's popular "GodKiller" illustrated film. Halo-8 has provided Splash Page readers with the first peek at the "Hack/Slash" film, courtesy of a short teaser...
According to Halo-8, the "Hack/Slash" film will be based on the "My First Maniac" story arc published by Image Comics. Read more...

Earlier today we brought you some news from this morning's pseudo-debut for "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," the upcoming Spider-Man musical directed by Julie Taymor.
Today's event involved a special interview with Taymor and U2 bandmates Bono and The Edge (who created the film's score) on "Good Morning America," as well as the debut of two costume designs for villains Spider-Man will face in the production. Oh, and Peter Parker himself (musician/actor Reeve Carney) also performed the first song from the musical, "Boy Falls From The Sky."
Thanks to the great power of the InterWebs, all of the fun stuff was captured in a variety of formats online — so enjoy it with great responsibility, okay? Read more...
