Chris Evans as Captain AmericaThings are moving quickly for Marvel's red, white, and blue superhero! Yesterday we saw video of an explosive moment on the Manchester set of "Captain America: The First Avenger," and today we have our first photos of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in the upcoming film.

Taken on the U.K. set of the movie, the five photos we're bringing you show Evans in various stages of action, as well as leading lady Hayley Atwell, and, well... a pair of bizarre, flesh-colored booties Evans is wearing for this particular scene. It seems safe to say that this is Steve Rogers at some point after the super-soldier serum takes effect, as Evans' biceps appear to be the same size as his head in the photos.

Oh, and if you're wondering what's up with Steve Rogers' crazy, Hobbit-esque feet, there's a video from the set posted on YouTube that offers a pretty good explanation for the booties right around the :33 mark. Read More...

Chloe MoretzChloe Moretz made quite the name for herself when she burst onto the screen as Hit-Girl in this year's "Kick-Ass," but the young actress' comic book ambitions aren't stopping there.

According to Deadline, Moretz has agreed to take on the title role in "Emily The Strange," based on the popular character created by Rob Reger and his company Cosmic Debris in 1993. Dark Horse's Mike Richardson is producing the Universal Pictures film alongside executive producers Reger and Keith Goldberg.

"When I first met Chloe I knew I found my Emily," Reger said of Moretz's casting. "She really identifies and understands the character, and has what it takes to bring her to life." Read More...

SmallvilleEarlier today I posted my interview with "Smallville" producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders, who offered up some thoughts on the final season of the series, characters they wish they could bring back (and some that never made the cut), and why they believe the story "doesn't end here" for the "Smallville" cast of characters.

With Season 10 kicking off tonight on The CW, the network has released a brand new teaser for "Lazarus," the episode that picks up where last season's finale left off and kick-starts the final chapter in the series. In the teaser, Peterson explains where Season 9 ended, where we'll pick things up in the premiere, and how things have changed for some of the characters going into this new run of episodes.

"The rule on 'Smallville' has always been 'No Tights, No Flights,'" teases Peterson in the video, "but it's Season 10, so it's time for some of the rules to go out the window." Read More...

Neil Gaiman TARDISYou may have months upon months left to wait before you actually see Neil Gaiman's "Doctor Who" episode, but he did share a picture from inside the TARDIS today, and he looks like he's been having a good time.

In other posts, two major events have been trending in the feed over the last 24 hours. The new "Community" season premiered last night, and its use of Spider-Man didn't escape the watchful eyes of Dan Slott. The talk of the morning has been Stephen Colbert's testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, and Border Security on the issue of migrant farm work, though. Find out who you agree with about that, as well as what Mark Millar drinks to cure a hangover after the jump.

Late last month, it was rumored that the list of potential directors for the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was down to two filmmakers: David Slade ("30 Days of Night" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") and Darren Aronofsky ("Requiem For a Dream" and "The Wrestler").

The former recently admitted meeting with Hugh Jackman about the job, but the latter noticeably clammed up when MTV News cornered him during the Toronto International Film Festival, where Aronofsky's recently "Black Swan" premiered. Watch it for yourself and read into it what you will, folks...

"I don't know what you're talking about," said Aronofsky when asked why he was seen meeting with FOX co-chairman Tom Rothman during the festival. Read More...

Spider-ManReports that Sony executives have narrowed down the search for Spider-Man's newest love interest to an elite group of actresses first emerged last month, but now it appears that the web is widening to include two other prominent players.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop that "Zombieland" actress Emma Stone and "Alice in Wonderland" star Mia Wasikowska are the two newest names in the "Spider-Man" mix. If the two actresses strike you as particularly opposite from each other, well, there's a reason for that — according to the report, Sony and director Marc Webb are looking to fill out two main female roles, presumably the red-headed Mary Jane Watson and the blonde, ill-fated Gwen Stacy. SmallvilleThe final season of "Smallville" kicks off tonight (Friday, September 24) on The CW, and there's no shortage of questions fans are hoping to see answered in Clark Kent and Lois Lane's final set of adventures in the long-running series.

Over the last nine seasons, we've seen a variety of familiar heroes and villains pass through Clark's life, the introduction of Superman's red-and-blue suit, the beginnings of the Justice League, and a journey that's taken Clark from his Smallville farm to the Daily Planet office in Metropolis. Now poised to become the longest-running U.S. science-fiction television series in history, "Smallville" appears to be pulling out all the stops in its final season, with new cast announced on an almost daily basis, and an over-arching plot that pits Superman against one of his most dangerous cosmic foes: Darkseid. Oh, and what would the final season be without Lex Luthor?

I spoke with "Smallville" producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders ahead of tonight's premiere to get some details about the final season, find out happened behind the scenes, and relay a few questions from fans in the Twitterverse. Read More...

SupermanSuperman is getting ready to take flight under Christopher Nolan's supervision, but he has made it clear that he won't be directing the forthcoming superhero film, tentatively titled "The Man of Steel." Instead, the man responsible for "The Dark Knight" is seeking other talented filmmakers to bring Superman back to the big screen — and according to one source, he has his eye on a few specific directors.

Deadline reports that "major announcements involving DC characters [are] coming in four weeks," including one particularly important decision regarding the director of the "Superman" franchise's next live-action entry. According to the report, the short list of directors includes Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones and Zack Snyder. Guillermo del Toro was once a candidate for the job, though he's no longer considered likely for the role.

Nolan has reportedly already started taking meetings with prospective "Superman" candidates, and is said to be submitting his personal choice to Warner Bros. within the next few weeks. Read More...

Captain AmericaFilming for "Captain America: The First Avenger" is underway in the U.K., and while we've seen photos of some of the set pieces and a few shots of Captain America in action, we have yet to see any video... until now, that is.

Over at AintItCoolNews.com, a reader has posted some captured video from his office window in Manchester, showing an explosive moment on the 1940s-era set. According to the YouTube user who posted the video, leading lady Hayley Atwell (playing Peggy Carter) appears in the scene, directly in front of an exploding car.

Set in 1940s-era New York City, filming is going on across the pond right now, so it's also worth noting the "Brooklyn Antiques" shop that Peggy Carter runs out of during the shot. Read More...

Ryan Reynolds has a hunch that he'll appear in either "R.I.P.D." or "Deadpool," but likely not both. Still, there's at least one comic book property he's fully committed to — the "Green Lantern" franchise.

Reynolds makes his debut as Hal Jordan in next summer's first "Green Lantern" film, and pending the success of that initial movie, DC Comics fans could very well see Hal and other characters taking center stage for many years to come.

"It's a pretty big universe and there's a lot to explore," Reynolds told MTV News about "Green Lantern's" sequel potential. "There's a lot to explore with Hal and without him. You could do a couple more movies with Hal, then you could move on to a movie with Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner, any of those guys." Read More...
