Earlier this week, Ryan Reynolds expressed some uncertainty that he'd be able to star in both "Deadpool" and "R.I.P.D.," two upcoming comic book movies in which he's attached to the lead role. With "Green Lantern" on the horizon and his new thriller "Buried" set to debut in a few weeks, the actor certainly has his work cut out for him — but does that mean we won't see him reprise his role as Marvel's mouthy mercenary?

That's the question MTV News posed to Reynolds at the Toronto International Film Festival, and his answer was, well... you'll have to judge for yourself on this one, folks.

"We'll see," said Reynolds when asked if the "Deadpool" movie was still in the works. "It's in development like the other films." Read More...

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World"Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" hits shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray in November, and Universal has released the full specs for every iteration of Edgar Wright's live-action adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's hit comic book series.

While the movie didn't quite meet expectations at the box office, it was difficult to find anyone who didn't have high praise for Wright's kinetic, effects-driven celebration of everything that made O'Malley's comic so great. And like any good DVD/Blu-Ray release, the movie comes packed with some cool bonus features, too.

Personally, I'm a little intrigued by the deleted scenes and alternate footage, as I managed to sneak into an early workprint of the film and, well... the ending of the unfinished version of the film was quite different from the theater cut I saw. Read More...

DC EntertainmentWhile speaking to yesterday's news that DC Entertainment is splitting its operations into separate California and New York headquarters, president Diane Nelson took the opportunity to address the company's future film plans. One thing that fans should not expect, according to Nelson, is that the DC Entertainment movie slate will mirror Marvel's "Avengers" model.

"People make an assumption that we're going to mirror Marvel's strategy, for example with Avengers," Nelson told IGN. "We do have a very different attitude about how you build a content slate. And it isn't necessarily about connecting those properties together to build into a single thing. We think we've got great stories and characters that will lend themselves to great standalone experiences, and that's the way we're focusing on it."

Nelson added that while she enjoys the healthy competition that exists between DC and Marvel, she also acknowledges that there's a certain competition that only exists in the minds of spectators. Read More...

Chloe Sullivan"Smallville" is known for its "no tights, no flights" policy, though that rule appears to be on the verge of breaking for the show's final season. Likewise, one of the central players of "Smallville" is forging new ground by making her grand debut in the pages of DC Comics.

Chloe Sullivan, the childhood friend of Clark Kent played on "Smallville" by Allison Mack, is finally making an appearance in the funny pages later this month in "Action Comics" #893. Created specifically for "Smallville," Chloe's first comic book appearance comes courtesy of writer Nick Spencer's special Jimmy Olsen back-up feature.

"She's a very successful and dedicated reporter and a major player in Metropolis," Spencer told TV Guide of his take on Chloe, adding that "she's the same dogged, funny and principled girl we've all come to love." Read More...

"Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" hits DVD and Blu-Ray September 28, but we have an exclusive peek at a new scene from the much-anticipated DC animated feature. Even better, the scene is introduced by "Firefly" actress Summer Glau, who voices Supergirl in the movie.

The latest of DC/Warner Bros. popular animated features, "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" is based on the "Superman/Batman" comic book arc written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald. Along with Glau, the all-star cast features returning Superman and Batman actors Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, respectively, as well as Ed Asner ("Up") as Granny Goodness. Read More...

UnbreakableAnyone who's been reading Splash Page for a while knows that we have an unhealthy obsession with "Unbreakable," director M. Night Shyamalan's dark superhero tale that first hit theaters in 2000.

After pestering him about a potential sequel for years (and recently discovering that we might actually see it — just not as "Unbreakable 2"), we're making our collective love for the film official with a special 10th Anniversary panel during New York Comic Con attended by Shyamalan himself!

"MTV Presents 'Unbreakable: Ten Years Later' With M. Night Shyamalan" will be held Sunday, October 10, at 12:45 PM in the IGN Theater. Read More...

Nathan FillionWith Joss Whedon officially on board as the director of "The Avengers," it's just a matter of time before the geek-friendly filmmaker finds roles for some of his most frequently used actors, right? Well, maybe not — at least not in Nathan Fillion's case.

Although Fillion has been at the center of rumors pegging him for Hank Pym in Whedon's superhero team-up, the "Castle" actor doesn't find it particularly likely that he'll actually wind up in "The Avengers."

"That would be a lovely fantasy," he told Collider about the possibility. "The fact is that I'm on 'Castle' right now, and that's 10 months out of the year. So, unless they're filming for two months, on my months off, there's just no possible way it could logistically be done." Read More...

Jon HammJon Hamm is best known for playing savvy advertising executive Donald Draper on AMC's "Mad Men," but you might know the actor for a very different reason. Over the past several weeks and months, Hamm's name has been dropped in connection with various comic book roles — indeed, he's a reliable presence in my Secret Identity column — and recently, Hamm has found himself entangled in a rather sizable rumor: a starring role in Christopher Nolan's "Superman" reboot.

Naturally, it's impossible to tell whether or not there's truth to the rumor, and the 39-year-old Hamm is certainly playing coy. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, the actor said that he hasn't "been informed of that [rumor]. They might want to run that by me."

But more importantly, Hamm echoed a sentiment held by some members of the comic book community: that he's simply too old to play the Man of Steel. Read More...

Ryan ReynoldsRyan Reynolds will either be in "Deadpool" or "R.I.P.D." No, that's not just idle speculation from your friendly neighborhood Splash Page blogger — that's the assessment from Reynolds himself.

Speaking with io9, Reynolds managed to put a lump in the collective throats of "Deadpool" fans everywhere by suggesting that he may not play the Merc with a Mouth after all.

Reynolds is next scheduled to film "The Change-Up" with Jason Bateman, followed by "Safe House" with Denzel Washington. After those two movies are completed, Reynolds imagines that he'll film either the long-awaited "Deadpool" or director Robert Schwentke's recently fast-tracked adaptation of "R.I.P.D.," but likely not both. It's been almost a year to the day since we had our last official update on "Cowboy Bebop," the planned movie based on the beloved anime series that Keanu Reeves was attached to star in and produce. Back then, Reeves said the live-action "Cowboy Bebop" was getting a rewrite in order to reduce the massive cost of making the film.

When MTV News caught up with Reeves at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting his new film "Henry's Crimes," the actor said very little has changed about the dilemma facing the film.

When asked where things have gone since our last interview, Reeves let loose with a loud groan. "Nowhere," he said. "It hasn't been working." Read More...
