The Walking DeadEpisode Title: "Days Gone Bye"

Written By: Frank Darabont

Story: Some time after suffering an injury during an intense shootout, police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awakens from a coma only to find himself trapped in a new nightmare. The world he remembers is gone, replaced by a bleak wasteland filled to the brim with a flesh-eating horde of undead monsters.

The shell-shocked Rick forces himself to pull it together as he searches for his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs), but as he soon realizes, hope is a rare commodity in this post-apocalyptic landscape. Read More...

"The Walking Dead" makes its long-awaited debut on AMC this weekend, offering one heck of a Halloween treat for television audiences.

Given the timing of the premiere, it's easy to guess what the "Walking Dead" cast and creators will be doing this Halloween, but what about in years past? Given all the time they've spent around zombies lately, I asked "The Walking Dead" team about their go-to horror movies for the Halloween season, and which scare-fests get pulled from their shelf every year around this time.

We gave you an early peek at Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd's answers last week, and now you can find out what the rest of the cast and creative team had to say. Read More...

Fantastic FourWe love horror movies all year round. From zombies and supernatural beasts to murderers and haunted abodes, the classic motifs are tried and true. But the sad fact is, by the time you choose the horror flick you want to see, you pretty much know what you’re in for — and that can take the edge off.

True horror is in the element of surprise, so what’s more surprising than believing you’re about to watch a comic book adaptation, and instead witnessing to the sadistic mauling of your favorite character’s personality, powers or storyline?

Here five of the most unintentionally terrifying films based on comics so far… because the scariest thing about comic book movies is when they go wrong. Read More...

Back in June when I visited the set of "The Walking Dead," series producer (and pilot episode writer/director) Frank Darabont likened lead actor Andrew Lincoln to veteran western star Gary Cooper. The filmmaker went on compare the general tone of "The Walking Dead" to classic westerns, despite the modern setting and ever-present threat of flesh-hungry zombies.

When Lincoln dropped by Splash Page HQ recently, I asked him about Darabont's comments, and whether he felt that western vibe while portraying Rick Grimes, the former police officer searching for his family in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic landscape.

"We had a long conversation before I got on the plane for the screen test," Lincoln told MTV News of his early discussions with Darabont. "Frank skyped me and we spoke for about an hour and a half about his ideas for the show and my ideas about Rick and where we sort of met [and our] influences and ideas." Read More...

Now that we know who Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd's favorite zombies in "The Walking Dead" are, perhaps it's time to get another similar tidbit out of them: what are their favorite scary movies?

When we spoke with the producers of the upcoming AMC television series during New York Comic Con, they had a laundry list of horror flicks that they tend to put on during the Halloween season.

"My sort of traditional Halloween movie viewing experience starts with 'Night of the Living Dead' and then 'The Exorcist,'" Darabont told MTV News. "And then I usually wrap it up with 'Count Yorga, Vampire.'" Read More...

time travelerTime traveler theories about a woman suspected of carrying a cellphone in footage of a Charlie Chaplin film premiere this week got the collective Internet's imagination running wild. Dave Gibbons sought to assure everyone that that time travel is definitely not possible, though — even if Bryan Hitch found a flaw in his logic.

TV and Halloween have been the other hot topics of the day. Simon Pegg joined others in mourning the loss of "Caprica," while Marc Bernardin is grateful to have "Battlestar Galactica" available on Netflix for reasons you may or may not agree with. Find out what they are after the jumps along with who dressed up as Justin Bieber and who wants Twitter to make some changes thanks to "Project Runway."

Danny ElfmanTo say that the long (25-plus years) partnership between composer Danny Elfman and director Tim Burton has been a magical one is an understatement — especially for a film score nerd like me. From "Batman" and "Edward Scissorhands" to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and the "Simpsons" theme, there's a good chance you've been exposed to one of their many, many collaborations.

Earlier this week, we brought you an exclusive clip from quite possibly the most epic box set I've ever seen: The Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box (available now). It's a massive collection of the duo's 13 scores together, featuring more than 19 hours of music, an exclusive DVD, and a long list of rare audio, video, and collectible material.

I was lucky enough to speak with Elfman about this must-have set, how things have changed since he and Burton first teamed up, what convinced him to share so many unreleased demos and ideas, and a surprising behind-the-scenes fact about his unforgettable "Batman" score. Read More...

Zombie Survival GuideBack in July, I was proud to bring you the exclusive scoop that author Max Brooks' "World War Z" and "Zombie Survival Guide" (as well as the "Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks" comics) had both been optioned by Paramount for live-action adaptations, with Brad Pitt attached to star in the "World War Z" movie.

With Brooks scheduled to make an appearance at this weekend's Long Beach Comic Con in support of "Recorded Attacks" and the rest of his zombie-friendly projects (as well as his recent "G.I. Joe: Hearts & Minds" miniseries), I caught up with the writer to get an update on his long list of current and future projects. What I didn't expect, however, was to find a fellow fan of Galador's greatest hero: Rom, Spaceknight.

MTV NEWS: You have a lot on you plate these days, so let's kick things off with "Recorded Attacks." How do you feel about the finished project there and the translation from smaller segments in the novel to a full-on comic book? Read More...

Wolverine 2"Wolverine 2" is getting closer to reality as Hugh Jackman sharpens his claws and Darren Aronofsky inches ever closer towards the director's chair. But there are other roles remaining to be filled on the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," including the film's cast outside of Jackman.

Sadly, we don't have any casting announcements for you today, but here's a nice consolation prize: a list of rumored characters that will appear in the "Wolverine" sequel. Pajiba reports on such a list, and while the inclusion of these characters is far from official, it's certainly an interesting assortment if the rumors prove to be true.

Check out some of the rumored characters after the jump, but beware of some potential spoilers! Read More...
