If Christopher Nolan and Michael Caine's recent comments on the third "Batman" film weren't enough to excite you about the upcoming sequel, then perhaps some casting news will sufficiently whet your appetite.
Deadline reports that Nolan has recruited his "Inception" collaborator Tom Hardy for a lead role in "Batman 3," which is expected to begin filming this spring at least partially in New Orleans. There's currently no word on who Hardy is playing, though speculation suggests that he could be up for one of the film's villain roles.
Hardy is a hot commodity these days thanks in large to his co-starring turn in "Inception" as Eames, a mercenary who specializes in dream theft. Prior to "Inception," Hardy delivered a critically acclaimed performance as real life prisoner Charles Bronson in "Bronson," directed by noted "Wonder Woman" enthusiast Nicolas Winding Refn. Even though it's the final season of "Smallville," it looks like there's plenty of new characters, cameos, and surprises in store for fans as The CW wraps up the record-breaking 10th season of the series.
Over at TV Guide, they've posted an image of Lois Lane (Erica Durance) as Isis, the Egyptian goddess who made her live-action debut alongside Captain Marvel in a 1970s television series and eventually earned a spot in DC's comics universe. According to the site, the October 22 episode "Isis" will feature "an ancient artifact [that] transforms the reporter into the Egyptian goddess Isis, who has powers that rival both Clark's and Green Arrow's."
The report also features a quote from "Lois & Clark" actress Teri Hatcher, who was previously rumored to play Lois Lane's mother in an upcoming episode, confirming the role she'll play in the November 12 "Smallville" episode. Read more...

In "Red," Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren play retired black ops agents forced to get back into the game after they're targeted for assassination. Along with fellow agents played by Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, the pensioners set out to discover who's trying to end their quiet retirement — though, as you'll see in this new clip, some have been quieter than others.
Based on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's 2003 comic book, "Red" hits theaters this Friday, October 15. Read more...

We here at Splash Page and the greater MTV community have long advocated for a sequel to "Unbreakable," director M. Night Shyamalan's 2000 feature film about a man who learns that he's super strong and practically invulnerable. But while we have always been big fans of the comic book inspired movie, it wasn't always a well-received work.
"It was initially hating," Shyamalan told MTV News about the initial reaction to the film. "If we were hanging out back then, you would have heard people saying 'Unbreakable' sucks. You'd hear them openly going at me about it." Read more...

Between the currently shooting "X-Men: First Class," a planned "Wolverine" sequel and the developing "Deadpool" film, 20th Century Fox is working hard to keep the "X-Men" franchise alive. Does that mean there's room for a movie based on Cable, the part-cybernetic telepathic mutant soldier from the future? Perhaps — and if so, there's an actor interested in playing him!
Screen Rant spoke with "Avatar" and "Conan" bad guy Stephen Lang at New York Comic Con this past weekend, and the actor revealed that he has his eye on Cable.
"One of [my] boys mentioned to me — he says, 'Hey pops, they're talking about you for Cable,'" said Lang. "I said, 'Who would that be?' And so he Googled him for me and I saw him and I thought, 'Oh wow, he's cool.'" Read more...

Ever since "Kick-Ass" brought its fresh, violent, foul-language-laden take on the superhero movie to the big screen in April, everyone involved — from director Matthew Vaughn to star Aaron Johnson to Mark Millar, the co-creator of the comic on which the film is based — have talked up the sequel. Rumors have swirled that Millar was working on a script and that Vaughn had an eye to direct when he'd wrapped work on that other superhero flick he's spearheading, "X-Men: First Class."
It is our sad duty to bring you the following news that certainly does not kick ass: Co-star Lyndsy Fonseca, who plays the titular hero's girlfriend, says that it could be quite some time before the sequel, (tentatively titled "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to The Wall") hits theaters.
"It's going to be a while if it does happen," she told MTV News while promoting her TV series "Nikita" at New York Comic Con this weekend. "Everyone's kind of working on other things, and there needs to be more issues of the comic before there's material to do another movie. So wait and see." Read more...

Dan Fogler is probably best known these days for his roles in "Fanboys" and "Balls of Fury," but it's his role as writer and director of "Hysterical Psycho" that set the stage for his first project in the comics world, Archaia's "Moon Lake" graphic novel.
I had a chance to sit down with Fogler during New York Comic Con to discuss the book, have a few laughs, and take a little tour of "Moon Lake" with the creator as my guide.
"It's like an anthology," said Fogler of how "Moon Lake" connects with the world he created for the wild horror film he wrote and directed. "'Hysterical Psycho' could be one of the many stories that happen at Moon Lake." Read more...

After losing "Superman" to director Zack Snyder, Darren Aronofsky is clawing his way closer and closer to the director's chair for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2."
According to Deadline, Aronofsky has passed on the opportunity to direct "Tales From the Gangster Squad," the Warner Bros. crime thriller about an LAPD task force in the 1940s. The report notes that Aronofsky is nearing a deal on "Wolverine 2," with some sticking points remaining as the filmmaker irons out an arrangement with 20th Century Fox.
If Aronofsky winds up in the director's chair on "Wolverine 2," he'll reunite with leading man Hugh Jackman for the first time since "The Fountain" in 2006. Read more...

In "Ghost Rider" lore, multiple men have carried the curse of the rider with them throughout their lives, including Johnny Blaze and his brother Danny Ketch. But if you asked the latest "Ghost Rider" cast member what he thinks of the character's legacy, he would likely tell you that there can only be one.
"Highlander" actor Christopher Lambert has joined the cast of "Ghost Rider: Spirit with a Vengeance," according to the actor himself in a post on the official "Highlander" Facebook page.
According to the entry, Lambert "is in talks" to star in the "Ghost Rider" sequel and has already spent three months doing sword training, indicating that his role is a particularly action-heavy character. Read more...
