Our week of "The Walking Dead" coverage continues today with a segment from our recent New York Comic Con interview with the cast of the AMC television series.

As I mentioned in my report from the "Walking Dead" set back in June, hordes of zombies weren't the only enemy the cast faced during filming, as brutal temperatures in Atlanta added a real-life threat to the fictional zombie apocalypse. The series' weighty emotional content also took its toll on the cast, the actors told MTV News.

"I think it sticks with us more on an emotional level than on a fright level for zombies," said Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn in the series. "The zombies look ridiculous, so there are moments that are terrifying. But man, I noticed this one time we were in this specific scene, when Rick is reunited with his family, and the way that he played it, I was like, 'Oh, that's the kind of show we're on.'" Locke & Key"The Walking Dead" isn't the only comic book television series haunting the Halloween season. Appropriately enough, it appears that the holiday has provided a major treat for fans of IDW Publishing's "Locke & Key" comic book series.

Already announced as in development, the planned "Locke & Key" television adaptation has officially received the green light for a pilot episode on the Fox network. According to Deadline, Fox is eyeing "Locke & Key" as a potential summer series.

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" creator Josh Friedman is credited as the writer of the "Locke & Key" adaptation, with frequent collaborators and "Cowboys & Aliens" co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci attached as producers. The project also comes courtesy of DreamWorks TV, though Steven Spielberg does not appear to be involved as was previously reported. Read more...

Incognito: Bad InfluencesIn the 2008-2009 comic book series "Incognito," Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips brought readers the story of Zack Overkill, a former supervillain living in witness protection after he testified against one of the world's most dangerous "science villains."

Told in the same gritty, noir-influenced style as the pair's popular 2003-2004 series "Sleeper" (about a superhero who goes undercover in the super-powered underworld), "Incognito" was picked up for adaptation in April by 20th Century Fox, with Robert Schenkkan ("The Quiet American," HBO's "The Pacific") writing the live-action feature's screenplay. The series will also get a comic book sequel, titled "Incognito: Bad Influences," which kicks off this week.

With the first issue of "Bad Influences" arriving on shelves Wednesday, Brubaker offered up some new details about Zack Overkill's return to action in the comics world, as well as the status of the "Incognito" and "Sleeper" movies. Splash Page readers also get the first peek at some new pages from "Bad Influences," courtesy of Marvel Comics. Read more...

Jennifer LawrenceAlthough "X-Men: First Class" features a wealth of mutants that have yet to be seen in previous "X-Men" films, there are still some old favorites standing in the spotlight, including Professor Charles Xavier and his friend-turned-foe Magneto.

There's also a young version of Raven Darkholme, the blue-skinned shape-shifter better known as Mystique — but when "First Class" hits theaters, fans may not immediately recognize the mutant menace.

"Winter's Bone" actress Jennifer Lawrence stars in "First Class" as the young Mystique, succeeding Rebecca Romijn in the role. Lawrence spoke about the part with Hollywood Elsewhere, revealing that she'll only sport Mystique's trademark blue skin for roughly 10% of the film. Read more...

Way back in April, AMC ended speculation over who would play Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead" television series by naming Andrew Lincoln the series' lead. Fan reaction was initially mixed, with many questioning the decision to cast a British actor as a Kentucky policeman — but the network quickly removed any doubts from fans' minds with the first batch of photos and footage from "The Walking Dead."

When Andrew Lincoln dropped by Splash Page HQ recently, I asked him about those first few weeks as the new face of Rick Grimes, and how he prepared himself to face both flesh-hungry zombies and "Walking Dead" fans.

"It was a big surprise to me as well," said Lincoln of landing the role. "I'm from London, I grew up in the West Country... But I think there was something that Frank responded to when I put myself on tape." Read more...

R.I.P. Mike EspositoIf you're running low on ideas for Halloween costumes this year, Matt Fraction has a concept you may be interested in. Unfortunately, it sound like his wife was a big fan.

In other posts, the comics community on Twitter got some bad news over the weekend with the passing of inker Mike Esposito, who contributed decades of work to Metal Men, Wonder Woman, Superman and Spider-Man stories. Jamal Igle and Steve Lieber remembered him in their tweets, which you can catch after the jump along with an emotional reaction to the Packers/Vikings game last night and a "Young Justice" prediction from Mike Norton.

Idris ElbaFrom cool and calculated criminal Stringer Bell on "The Wire" to the mythical god Heimdall in "Thor," Idris Elba has certainly done his best to diversify his career. In fact, that's exactly why the actor accepted a role in the forthcoming "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Elba defended his decision to sign on for the "Ghost Rider" sequel, in which he appears opposite Nicolas Cage as an alcoholic warrior monk.

"I get criticized for taking roles in films like 'Ghost Rider 2,' but if you look at my résumé, dude, I’ve mixed it up as much as I can," laughed the actor. "I love to play different roles. That’s just the kind of actor I am." Read more...

DC Universe OnlineAlthough players can't assume the roles of the greatest superheroes and villains that the DC Universe has to offer in "DC Universe Online," the forthcoming video game is providing them with the next best thing: a talented voice cast that includes the venerable Wil Wheaton.

The "Star Trek" and "Big Bang Theory" star joins the growing voice cast for "DC Universe Online," the upcoming MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment. Sony announced Wheaton's casting in a press release, alongside other new voice actors including Corey Burton as Brainiac and Dwight Schultz as The Flash. Wheaton will provide the voice of Robin.

Additionally, Arleen Sorkin is once again reprising her role as Harley Quinn, having previously voiced the character in "Batman: The Animated Series" and "Batman: Arkham Asylum," among other projects. Read more...

Years ago before anyone had seen Robert Downey Jr. in his first "Iron Man" film, Hilary Swank became a topic of conversation surrounding a rumored cameo and subsequent role as She-Hulk or Black Widow. Two films into the franchise and one Avi Arad confirmation later, we now know that she was never cast in the Marvel Universe to begin with, and she still doesn't know why — though she fought the speculation to the point of asking IMDb to take down the credit.

"Yeah, it was all over the press, and everyone kept asking me," Swank told MTV News. Read more...
