With "X-Men: First Class" currently shooting and "The Dark Knight Rises" gearing up production as well, there are bound to be more than a few rumors floating around regarding both franchises. But which rumors are true? Which ones are totally bogus?
Take a recent "First Class" rumor, for example. Earlier this week, buzz started building that Hugh Jackman might have a cameo in the "X-Men" prequel, based on a driver's claim that he drove the actor to an airport near the film's supposed shooting location in Georgia.
But fans' heightened hopes for a Wolverine cameo took a dive with an official response from producer Bryan Singer, who tells the Coventry Telegraph: "He's not in the movie, he's in the Wolverine movies."
"X-Men hasn't started shooting in Georgia yet," he continued. "If Hugh was in Georgia, it wasn't for this movie."
So, let's consider one rumor shelved for now and turn towards Gotham City for the next. Comic Book Movie reports that Charlize Theron, Kacie Thomas and Vera Farmiga are all up for roles in "The Dark Knight Rises," with Theron eyed for detective Sarah Essen -- a love interest for Commissioner Gordon -- and Farmiga and Thomas vying for Julie Madison, a socialite lover of Bruce Wayne's. Interestingly, the Madison character has ties to Clayface in the comic books, increasing speculation that the muddy maniac is the third "Batman" film's villain.
But, again, this is all conjecture and rumor for now. No official confirmations or denials on the "Dark Knight Rises" front yet, so take it all with a grain of salt. But if Theron, Farmiga and Thomas really are up for roles, do you think they're adequately suited for Christopher Nolan's vision of the "Batman" universe? And with two new female leads supposedly in the mix already, is the plate too crowded for a Catwoman introduction?
