The first trailer has finally arrived for "Cowboys & Aliens," Jon Favreau's adaptation of the Platinum Studios comic of the same name (and really, why would you change that name), offering mainstream audiences a peek at some of the footage that wowed attendees at San Diego Comic-Con.
Featuring an all-star cast that includes Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, and Harrison Ford, the film follows a mysterious stranger who arrives in town with no memory of his past or the weird shackle on his wrist. When aliens attack the town, he discovers that he might hold the key to fighting them off — but only if he can get everyone inside the town (and outside) to work together.
The trailer, which debuted on Yahoo Movies today, first premiered at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, along with some extra, not-yet-finished scenes featuring Craig as the mysterious Jake Lonergan.
"Cowboys and Aliens" is based on the 2006 graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley. Platinum Studios had famously shopped around the movie rights to the comic for almost a decade before it was eventually picked up for adaptation.
"Cowboys & Aliens" is scheduled to premiere in July 2011. You can check out a few more photos from the movie in our "Cowboys & Aliens" photo gallery.
