Captain AmericaDid you enjoy those photos of Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving and the rest of the "Captain America" cast that surfaced online last week? Perhaps you would like them even more with some extra commentary from the director himself, Joe Johnston!

Johnston spoke with Comic Book Movie and weighed in on the recent images, including Evans as Steve Rogers on his way back from his very first mission in World War II, the first appearance of the Hydra submarines and much more.

The filmmaker discussed the photo revealing a very muscular (and very shirtless) Steve Rogers, saying that this scene takes place moments after stepping out of the Project Rebirth pod. Read More...

Zooey DeschanelSo, perhaps there is another female lead in "Spider-Man" after all -- but, nope, it's still not Mary Jane Watson!

There's a new rumor floating around that actress Zooey Deschanel is talking with director Marc Webb about joining the cast of "Spider-Man" as Elizabeth "Betty" Brant. A member of the Daily Bugle staff working under totalitarian editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson, Brant is typically considered a supporting character at best in the "Spider-Man" mythos, though Webb allegedly has big plans for her.

"He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly," an alleged insider tells Showbiz Spy. "The role is hers if she wants it.” Read More...

Y; The Last ManA potential adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's celebrated comic book series "Y: The Last Man" has bounced around in Hollywood for years now, with little movement past the script stage. Most recently, "I Am Number Four" director D.J. Caruso reported that he was still "loosely attached" to the project, though he indicated that the massive amount of source material and differences with the studio over how to present it — as a solo movie or a trilogy — had left the project in limbo.

However, movie blog Latino Review reported an anonymously sourced rumor back in March that "Incredible Hulk" director Louis Leterrier was "circling" the "Y: The Last Man" adaptation, though the project was still plagued by internal differences at studio New Line Cinema regarding the proper approach to the film.

I spoke with Leterrier recently regarding the "Y; The Last Man" rumor, and along with receiving some confirmation of his dealings with the studio, he also offered up some thoughts on how he'd approach such an ambitious adaptation. Read More...

The countdown is finally over for "Doctor Who" fans eagerly anticipating the release of "Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series" on DVD or Blu-Ray, and along with the big giveaway we kicked off today to celebrate the set's arrival, we also have another exclusive peek at the bonus features found in the collection.

This time around, it's a personal tour of the new TARDIS set (and a peek at the old) from Amy Pond herself, actress Karen Gillan.

Yes, that's the old TARDIS from last season's Tenth Doctor adventures seen at the start of the footage. Looks a little sad and lonely, eh? Read More...

Hooray for "The Walking Dead" getting a much-deserved second season! While I couldn't be more delighted for the cast and crew, as the resident movie and television score nerd at Splash Page HQ, I'm most excited about the fact that Bear McCreary will continue composing his nuanced notes for the series' eerily perfect score.

Speaking of which, in addition to "The Walking Dead" theme being backed with heavy emphasis on string instruments, we have some info for anyone wondering about the creepy mix of sounds behind the walkers in Episode Two ("Guts") (specifically, the scene in which Rick and Glenn are posing as smelly walkers themselves amid a mess of undead). McCreary told MTV News it's all about the banjo — the electric banjo, that is.

"One of the things you can listen for is that I tend to use the strings with the humans and the bluegrass instruments with the zombies," said McCreary. "One of my favorite sounds we’ve discovered is the electric banjo." Read More...

DC ShowcaseThe "DC Showcase Animated Shorts Collection" hits shelves today, offering up a trio of previously released animated shorts and the brand new "Superman/Shazam: The Return Of Black Adam."

After kicking off with "The Spectre" earlier this year (included on the "Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths" feature), Warner Bros.' line of animated shorts continued with shorts focusing on other lesser-known DC characters, including Jonah Hex and Green Arrow. The line has generally met with high praise from fans, and now all of the shorts are collected on one disc in the "DC Showcase" collection along with a new short that introduces its Fawcett City superhero, Captain Marvel, and his chief nemesis, Black Adam.

As the title implies, the pair aren't the only heavy hitters to feature prominently in the new animated short, as Superman shepherds Billy Batson's first adventure as the magical superhero. Read More...

COD Black OpsNow that "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is legally for sale, our Twitter feed had three perspective to present. There's Brian Reed, who knows that his copy has shipped; Andy Diggle, who has his game in hand; and a poor young actress from "Kick-Ass" who is old enough to use Mark Millar's language on-screen but can't yet buy a copy of the week's most popular first-person shooter.

Conan O'Brien's new talk show on TBS, which premiered last night, was geared toward a much more family-friendly demographic, meanwhile, even if it took a few members of the comics community a little while to figure out which Conan was showing up on trending topics lists. Find out who made that mistake after the jump, as well as who's stoked for "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" on Blu-ray and what kinds of new policies Starfleet might want to consider implementing.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for November 9, 2010. Read More...

Doctor WhoThe day has finally arrived when "Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series" lands on shelves, offering fans the chance to bring home The Eleventh Doctor's first season on DVD or Blu-Ray. It's sort of like a holiday, but with more bowtie jokes and a time-traveling police box.

The last few days we've been giving you sneak peeks at the bonus features on the Series Five box set, and even giving away a few sets — accompanied by replicas of the Eleventh Doctor's sonic screwdriver. But today is the big day, so it merits an even bigger giveaway.

Seriously, people — this giveaway is so big it causes me physical pain to even contemplate parting with all this "Doctor Who" stuff. Read More...

The Walking DeadIn a move that surprises few fans but provides relief for many, AMC has officially given the green light for a second season of "The Walking Dead." With 13 episodes following the six-episode first season, there's considerably more ground to cover in season two -- and based on the wealth of stories seen in Robert Kirkman's comic book series, it's guaranteed that year two is going to be a heck of a ride.

But exactly where will Frank Darabont's critically acclaimed series go in season two? It's hard to say -- though we certainly have our wish list!

Read on for a spoiler-lite (but not spoiler-free) list of the five characters and concepts we're hoping to see in Season Two of "The Walking Dead." Read More...

SmallvilleThe final season of "Smallville" continues on The CW, and today we have a trio of teasers for this week's episode, "Abandoned."

First announced back in September, former "Lois & Clark" actress Teri Hatcher makes her long-awaited appearance in Friday's episode, playing the role of Lois Lane's deceased mother. As seen in the clips below, Hatcher makes her debut via a series of video tapes Lois' mother recorded before her death.

The clips also provide a peek at Granny Goodness and Mad Harriet, two of Darkseid's minions making their debut in the episode. Oh, and there's a cool little "There Was A Boy" music video that doesn't seem to reveal anything in future episode, but is pretty cool all the same. Read More...
