The show's official global launch was announced this morning in a press release, with the show opening on July 20, 2011 in Manchester and hitting a variety of European cities before landing in North America in the summer of 2012. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Read More...

The network gave audiences the good news today, just a week removed from the series' wildly successful premiere. According to the announcement, the post-apocalyptic saga based on Robert Kirkman's long-running comic book will receive another 13 episodes for its second season.

MarvelIt's no secret that Marvel Entertainment is in the process of developing new live-action television projects based on their expansive library of characters and concepts -- and even if the exact who's and what's remain unclear, we're now getting a picture of the number of projects currently under development.

Robert Iger, chief executive of The Walt Disney Company, spoke about Disney's current and future endeavors in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. When the conversation turned to Disney's plans for their recently acquired Marvel brand, Iger revealed something rather interesting about the comics publisher's future television presence.

"[With Marvel] we've taken back distribution, or bought back distribution from Paramount, for some critical franchises. Notably, 'Iron Man 3' will be distributed by us, and 'Avengers,'" he said, before adding the truly interesting bit: "We're developing three live-action series for ABC and ABC Family." Read More...

The Simpsons TwilightWhile excitement surrounding the Dallas Cowboys has dissipated quickly this year in the NFL, "The Walking Dead" has performing admirably as conversation topic on Sunday nights. Together, however, the team that used to be unbeatable in the Super Bowl and AMC's new series have also been good for joke fodder.

Elsewhere, Brian Michael Bendis offered up a micro-review of "Megamind," while Paul Southworth thought the "Twilight" parody on "The Simpsons" was a stale, and Javier Grillo-Marxuach questioned what Steven Spielberg's intentions were in crafting the new "Tin-Tin" movie. Check out what they had to say below. It's all been retweeted along with Dan Slott's vision for "Daredevil" and Jonathan Hickman's feelings about "Avatar."

Joe ManganielloWith Armie Hammer reportedly out of the running and the jury still out on Jon Hamm's potential, the rumored casting pool for director Zack Snyder's "Superman" relaunch is surprisingly thin -- though three new names, however unlikely, have just joined the mix.

Examiner reports that wrestling icons Dwayne Johnson and John Cena are two of the front runners to fill out Clark Kent's shoes for Snyder's upcoming film. But without any other official word, it's more than likely that these rumors are just that -- rumors.

But there's another rumor that has at least a little bit more weight: "True Blood" actor Joe Manganiello is reportedly a contender for Superman, according to a pretty reliable source... himself! Read More...

Morgan Freeman"High School Musical" and "Charlie St. Cloud" star Zac Efron isn't the only actor rumored for the forthcoming adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's "Akira" anime and manga series, but the latest name in the mix is undoubtedly less polarizing than Efron's.

Bloody Disgusting reports that "The Dark Knight" and "Red" actor Morgan Freeman is circling a role in "Akira," directed by Albert Hughes of "The Book of Eli" fame. According to the report, Freeman would play the role of Colonel Shikishima, the head of a secret government project that's conducting research on psychically gifted youngsters, including the troubled Tetsuo.

Although he first appears in the story in an antagonistic fashion, the Colonel eventually reveals himself as a man of character, willing to put himself through great risk in order to ensure the continued safety of Neo Tokyo. Read More...

DeadpoolDeadpool is a mercenary who brutally kills his enemies while cracking inappropriate jokes left and right, frequently breaking down the fourth wall to speak directly to the audience at home. What more do you need to know about the guy?

Quite a bit, apparently. "Deadpool" screenwriter Rhett Reese spoke with io9 about his work on the developing Marvel Comics adaptation for 20th Century Fox, confirming that while the film spends plenty of time with Wade Wilson as he is now, there's also plenty of attention paid to the Merc with a Mouth's past.

"Ultimately, I think despite how fun he is in the now, we really did want to explore how he became that way and why he became that way," said Reese. "We definitely delve into that." Read More...

Spider-ManDon't you just love it when a plan comes together?

Barely less than a year after plans for Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire's fourth "Spider-Man" film were scrapped in favor of a total relaunch of the franchise, Sony's developing reboot is finally starting to kick into high gear. With production just weeks away, the "Spider-Man" cast is shaping up with five major roles already filled out, and several more announcements likely to follow in the coming weeks.
