We've already gotten our first look at the new grisly face of justice, and in a few months, there's going to be a whole lot more — for fans living in England, that is!
Comic Book Resources reports that new footage from the forthcoming "Dredd" is headed to the inaugural Kapow! Comic Con, premiering next April in London, England. Producer Andrew Macdonald will be on hand to present the footage, which will doubtlessly showcase Karl Urban as the helmet-wearing Judge Dredd.
“It is fantastic to be involved with Kapow! and I’m really looking forward to talking to all the fans about our upcoming Dredd movie," Macdonald said in a press release. "I’ll be on the 2000AD panel with a little taster of what people can look forward to from our 2012 release."
For those not in the know, Kapow! Comic Con is a new convention kicking off in London on April 9th and 10th, 2011, courtesy of "Kick-Ass" and "Wanted" writer Mark Millar. The idea behind Kapow! is to bring the experience of Comic-Con International in San Diego to England, as evidenced by the announcement of an exclusive "Dredd" debut at the first year of the convention.
"I love the fact that all these comic-book movies are just getting made up the road," Millar told CBR, referring to the various films like "Captain America" and "X-Men: First Class" that are shooting in England. "People just need to jump in a cab to come along and talk about them, as opposed to traveling halfway across the world."
"Dredd" is currently in production in South Africa, with Karl Urban starring as the iconic 2000 AD character and actress Olivia Thirlby as Judge Cassandra Anderson, a rookie training under Dredd's supervision. Peter Travis is directing from a script written by Alex Garland, while "The Losers" artist Jock provides concept art to the production.
