Deadpool - Rob LiefeldAnyone who follows veteran comic creator Rob Liefeld on Twitter knows that the co-creator of Marvel's mouthy mercenary Deadpool never shies away from telling the world what he thinks about current events, sports, television, or just about anything else that catches his attention. He's refreshingly frank, responsive to fans, and always willing to chat up readers about that moment's topic of interest.

Last week, Liefeld's observations in the Twitter-verse attracted quite a bit of attention when he called out 20th Century Fox studio for its management — or perceived lack thereof — regarding the live-action "Deadpool" movie set to star Ryan Reynolds. Asking Fox "find its balls" and make a "filthy" Deadpool movie based on the widely circulated script from "Zombieland" writers Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick, Liefeld offered up some blunt advice for the "X-Men" franchise studio.

In the aftermath of seeing his messages copied, pasted, and otherwise echoed around the online world, I reached out to Liefeld to get some context for his "Deadpool" comments outside the 140-character limitations of Twitter, and to find out why he thinks we haven't seen any movement on the film lately. John LennonReactions to Daft Punk's "Tron: Legacy" soundtrack continued to trickle in today, but they were joined by a rumor that the film may be accompanied by a theatrical trailer for "Thor." A lot of faces in the feed may be big supporters of such a move, but I don't think Evan Dorkin is among them.

In other posts, the anniversary of John Lennon's death brought out Twitter's sentimental side, and if you didn't already know which Marvel writer named his son after Lennon, you will after today. Those details, along with Brian Michael Bendis' "iCarly" excitement, Matt Fraction's latest joke-writing assignment and Erik Larsen's pick for the most screwed up Christmas Carol await you below.

WolverineMany fans are still scratching their heads about Darren Aronofsky's new job as the director of "The Wolverine," the standalone non-sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." But according to series lead Hugh Jackman, Aronofsky's attachment to the comic book movie wasn't just a no-brainer — it was a long time coming, as well.

"I've been trying to get Darren since 'X-Men 3,' really," Jackman told Entertainment Weekly during a recent interview. "We've been talking about this and 'Wolverine' for so long."

Jackman, who worked with Aronofsky previously on "The Fountain," described the director as "a visionary" and elaborated on some of the creative conversations they've already had. Read More...

FablesIt was announced two years ago that a television adaptation of Bill Willingham's "Fables" was headed to the ABC network as an hourlong drama, but since then, very few details have emerged on the developing series — and sadly for "Fables" fans, it appears that there's a good reason why.

Willingham told io9 in a recent interview that while he's not completely sure on the status of the "Fables" TV show, he doesn't expect that the version that was announced in 2008 is still on the way.

"The TV show that was prematurely announced is probably dead," he said, adding: "Don't hold me to that, because I don't know. Hopefully, I'll know before it airs, but I'm kind of out of the loop." Read More...

Superman Flyby DoomsdayLately, we’ve heard plenty of news about the Superman film of the future—the reboot that seemed to belong to Christopher Nolan before settling with fellow superhero-seasoned director Zack Snyder (with Nolan still involved in some capacity). Now we have a—decidedly more rare—update on two of the myriad abandoned Superman projects from the past.

Digital effect guru Steve Johnson recently revealed via his Facebook page some concept art for the J.J. Abrams-scripted “Superman Flyby,” a project dropped before 2006’s “Superman Returns” came to fruition. The sketches reveal a slightly more modern take on the Man of Steel's famous costume, with much less yellow in the “S” and gold stones at the belt area.

But the real kicker as far as Superman fans are concerned may be the art that never made it to Bryan Singer’s whack at the franchise. Three sketches of popular villain Doomsday mid-roar could have been held over from “Superman Returns” or slated for the sequel that never was. Read More...

HershelWith season one in the rearview mirror, it's time to start thinking about where "The Walking Dead" will go in season two. We've already speculated that fan-favorite character Michonne will have a role to play next year, and another likely bet is that Rick Grimes and his pals will pay a visit to Hershel's farm.

Hershel Greene is many things: a farmer, a family man, a man of faith. But when the zombie apocalypse strikes, the deeply religious Hershel is forced to confront some sad truths about not just the state of mankind, but his own capacity for violence.

If the survivors end up visiting Hershel's farm, here are five actors we could see in the role. Read More...

CataclysmWrapping up the report for this morning, I'm already predicting that tomorrow's feed will include numerous well-articulated critiques of the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con hotel registration process, but for now, the big topics of the day are Julian Assange's arrest in London and reactions to the "Tron: Legacy" soundtrack that's shown up on Amazon for $3.99.

Jhonen Vasquez and Jeremy Haun's responses to the new music from Daft Punk for "Legacy" differ greatly, and the range of posts about WikiLeaks' founder being taken into custody was mixed as well. Find out who's predicting what, where Andy Kuhn and Jimmy Palmiotti agree on "Skyline" and who's playing "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm" down below.

When "The Walking Dead" stars Laurie Holden and Norman Reedus dropped by Splash Page HQ yesterday, I made sure to pepper them with questions about the second season of the hit AMC television series — and about last weekend's explosive finale to the first season.

One of the biggest questions about the sixth and final episode of Season One involves a brief exchange between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Jenner (Noah Emmerich) in which the latter whispers something into the ear of the reluctant leader of the survivors. So, I had to ask: Do the two actors know what was said?

"There are some ideas about what it might be," hinted Reedus. "Of course, I can't tell you what those are, but you can guess." Read More...

Green LanternLast week, we got an update from writer Marc Guggenheim about his creator-owned comics and movie projects "Halcyon" and "Resurrection," but just in case you're not familiar with the two series (though you should be — they're great), there's another little project he co-scripted that certainly is on your radar: the live-action "Green Lantern" movie.

I spoke to Guggenheim a while back (before the "Green Lantern" trailer debuted) about some of the script rumors that popped up over the last year or so, as well as some of the elements of his original script with Greg Berlanti and Michael Green that weren't likely to make the final cut of the film.

I also asked him about some of the Green Lanterns fans are wondering whether they'll see in the film, and though he couldn't give me too many answers about who's in the script, it looks like we can cross one fan-favorite (okay, my favorite) Lantern off the cast list. Read More...
