DeadpoolRob Liefeld wants his "Deadpool" movie, and he wants it now.

When we spoke with Liefeld earlier in the month about his thoughts on the developing "Deadpool" adaptation, he made no secret about his frustration over Fox's handling of the Ryan Reynolds-starring comic book flick. But even if "Deadpool" hasn't stepped up to the starting line just yet, Liefeld isn't giving up hope on the mouthy merc's silver-screen chances.

Over at his official website, Liefeld has laid out a wish list of candidates to direct the "Deadpool" film. His list consists of five (technically seven) filmmakers, ranging from the Wachowski siblings to Joe Carnahan to "Samurai Jack" creator Genndy Tartakovsky, the Russian-American animator who pitched in with storyboards for "Iron Man 2." Christopher NolanWe still don't know who the villain is for "The Dark Knight Rises," nor do we know the film's plot line. But one thing is for sure: Christopher Nolan's third trip to Gotham City is coming, and it's coming soon.

But as Nolan gears up for his latest round of crime-fighting with the Caped Crusader, he won't be sticking exclusively to Gotham. As was the case in both "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," it appears that the next Batman movie will spend some time overseas in Asia.

Hero Complex alerts us to the news that Nolan is currently in Asia scouting shooting locations for "The Dark Knight Rises." Exactly where in Asia remains to be seen, but is it possible that Bats is headed back to Hong Kong? Read More...

Iron ManYou've likely heard the news by now that Jon Favreau isn't directing "Iron Man 3." We're still awaiting confirmation, but in the meantime, it's our sad duty to contemplate the future of the franchise without Favreau's involvement.

[UPDATE: Jon Favreau has confirmed his departure from "Iron Man 3" via Twitter.]

Although it's been a wildly successful series, "Iron Man" isn't the easiest franchise to nail down. It hinges on the charm of leading man Robert Downey Jr. and all of the comedy he and his fellow actors bring to the table just as much as it does on major action set pieces. Ideally, Marvel wants a director who can handle both of those elements.

With that in mind, we've taken on the daunting task of narrowing down five directors that could succeed Favreau in "Iron Man 3," even if the (possibly) outgoing filmmaker remains our first pick for the job. Read More...

Jon FavreauThere are countless reasons as to why the "Iron Man" film franchise has been so successful since launching in 2008, with director Jon Favreau being one of the most essential ingredients. Naturally, then, it's troubling to hear that Favreau won't return to direct "Iron Man 3."

Vulture reports that the director of the first two "Iron Man" films won't be coming back for its forthcoming third installment. According to the report, Favreau informed Marvel Studios of his decision last night.

This one slipped under our radar late last week when it debuted, but the new trailer for the "X-Men Destiny" video game is cool enough to merit a late alert for anyone who didn't catch it Friday.

Written by veteran comics author Mike Carey, "X-Men Destiny" promises a completely original story that puts players in the role of a new mutant, and a multitude of decisions throughout the narrative that will determine whether you become a hero or villain. Read More...

Golden Globe nominationsThe creators behind "Red" and "The Walking Dead" did some celebrating on Twitter this morning as their film and TV adaptations attracted the attention of some Golden Globe nominations. Congratulatory posts came in big numbers as well, even from those who respect their fellow creators more than they do the Globes.

Sports stars trended too today, with pitcher Cliff Lee's move to the Philadelphia Phillies and Brett Favre's famous starting streak finally coming to an end. Reactions to both of those stories, as well as a TV project tease from Steve Niles and Joe Hill's struggle with throwing away marbles await you after the jump.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for December 14, 2010. Read More...

The Walking DeadAs much as we love them, comic book movies and television shows aren't always seen as critical darlings, certainly not awards show magnets. In 2008, we thought that trend would end when "The Dark Knight" garnered huge box office numbers in addition to rave reviews, making the lack of attention from the Academy Awards all the more noticeable.

Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

But where the 2008 Oscars failed, the 2010 Golden Globes could succeed. The list of nominees for this year's Globes was released earlier this morning, and to the happy surprise of many, two different comics-related projects made it onto the list: "The Walking Dead" and "Red." Read More...

SmallvilleThe final season of "Smallville" stops to take a breather this month, leaving fans to wonder a little longer about what happened to Clark Kent and the rest of the series' superheroes after last week's tragic, episode-ending cliffhanger.

Thankfully, The CW has released a teaser for the next episode, "Collateral," which should provide a few hints about the status of Clark (Tom Welling), Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley), and the rest of their team. Oh, and from what we can tell, it looks like fan-favorite character Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) will finally make her return to "Smallville," too.

From the looks of things, Clark and Oliver won't be the only DC characters in the spotlight when the series returns January 28. Read More...

Green LanternGreen Lantern is poised to have a big year in 2011, but the live-action film starring Ryan Reynolds as hotshot hero Hal Jordan isn't the only upcoming project with an emerald hue.

Back in June, word got out about not one, but two animated projects in the works featuring Hal and the Green Lantern Corps: "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" and "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights," an animated movie that many speculated would be a sequel to 2009's "Green Lantern: First Flight."

With both projects poised to make 2011 a very good year for DC's ring-wielding hero, I spoke to producer Bruce Timm to get a few more details about each project. Read More...
