Bestselling author Brad Meltzer loves a good conspiracy.
Whether exploring the nation's unsolved mysteries in his History Channel show "Brad Meltzer's Decoded," or crafting the political thrillers at the heart of celebrated novels like "The Tenth Justice" or "The Book Of Fate," the award-winning writer has a nose for sniffing out the stories lurking just behind the historical facts. His latest conspiracy tale, "The Inner Circle," hits shelves this week, telling of a young archivist who accidentally discovers a 200-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington and becomes entangled in a dangerous mystery.
With that in mind, we asked the former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Identity Crisis" comic book writer to tell us about his favorite conspiracy stories from the big screen — and he was happy to oblige with a list of seven films he counts as his favorite conspiracy movies. Why seven? Apparently, it's a mystery.

A new poster for "Thor" has hit the 'net on French movie sites, featuring another shot of Marvel's god of thunder as he'll appear on the big screen.
Presented over at CloneWeb, the new poster has lead actor Chris Hemsworth suited up as Thor with his magical hammer Mjolnir clutched in his right hand. While there's not really any news to glean from the image, it's nice to see more of just about anything from the upcoming Marvel Studios film as we get closer to its May premiere.
Here's hoping the next one features Beta Ray Bill. (Probably not.) Read more...

The first time we meet the adult Britt Reid — the scion of a Los Angeles media magnate — he's gleefully trashing a hotel, one part Keith Moon-style rock star, one part reality-TV celebutant.
The party boy, of course, will go on to become the superhero who gives "Green Hornet" its name. But in the beginning, Britt is simply a hard-drinking, model-humping, spoiled brat. And, as Seth Rogen explained to MTV News, he and co-writer Evan Goldberg turned to some real-life inspiration to create the character.
"We kind of based him off a male Paris Hilton, as embarrassing as that is to say," he told MTV News. "That is what we looked at — those people who are the sons or daughters of people who have accomplished great things. We probably give them a little more credit than they've gotten in the past and we explore why they're such jerks and why they act out. Maybe it's because they didn't get the attention they wanted."

Even though it's already well into production, director Marc Webb's forthcoming "Spider-Man" reboot continues to catch a vast array of actors in its web.
Today is no exception, as "The Outsiders" and "Red Dawn" actor C. Thomas Howell has been recruited into the Spider-Man fold. The former child actor, a fixture of 1980s cinema but a relatively obscure name and face by today's standards, is joining fellow actors Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as a mysterious character known only as Ray. Geeks are gearing up for "The Green Hornet" and info about Verizon iPhone this week, and both showed up on the minds of creators in the Twitter Report feed today. Ben McCool posted a micro-review of the film, while others who haven't been lucky enough to see it yet focused mainly on what they're expecting. Meanwhile, at a desk near a pot of coffee somewhere, R. Stevens is awaiting a mass iPhone exodus from his AT&T network.
In other posting, it's been a lively week on Twitter for both Mark Millar and Brian Michael Bendis. Today, the relationship between movie pitches and comic book were front and center, though ultimately Bendis just wants Millar to get back to work. Check out these tweets that captured the zeitgeist of our times, and find out whose pinball machine Brad Meltzer might have already stolen down below.

Scattered creators on Twitter joined Splash Page in checking out NBC's new series "The Cape" on Sunday, but Bryan Hitch and Ron Marz were a little less forgiving when it came to evaluating the show.
Monday morning brought some sad reactions as well with news that "Bullitt" director Peter Yates passed away at the age of 82. Edgar Wright remembered him fondly. You'll also find some things to be happy about, however, as Stan Lee teased his upcoming "Spider-Man" movie cameo, Rob Liefeld shared some artwork and Brian Michael Bendis attempted to dispel ghostwriting rumors.

Fear not, True Believers — Stan Lee will get his cameo in the "Spider-Man" reboot.
The co-creator of the friendly neighborhood webslinger announced on Twitter today (January 10) that he will indeed have a cameo in Marc Webb's upcoming reboot of the "Spider-Man" movie franchise. And though he couldn't reveal the exact nature of his on-screen role, he did say he would finally be in "an action scene."
"It’s been an exciting week for me, but I got a phone call last night that really flipped me out! I’m bustin’ to tell you about it," he posted. "My pal Avi Arad, producer of the new Spider-Man movie, called to tell me how excited he is about the film. Then came the surprise." Read more...
