Smallville"Smallville" returns to its regular weekly schedule this week with the new episode "Collateral," and The CW is marking the occasion with a trio of new videos teasing Friday's episode and the remainder of the series' final season.

Episode 12 looks to be picking up where last year's midseason finale left off — with Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and the rest of the series' heroes falling unconscious at the funeral for Carter Hall, a.k.a. Hawkman. The shadowy anti-vigilante agency is at it again, and according to the clips, gone-but-not-forgotten Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) might have something to do with their latest diabolical machinations!

The first "Ghost Rider" movie wasn't awesome, but it didn't need to be. Dress Nic Cage in a leather jacket and give him a badass motorcycle, a chain-whip, and a flaming skull for a head and you've got my $10 ticket, simple as that. My attitude toward the coming sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" is the same, for all of the reasons I just laid out.

If you share that feeling about all things Nic Cage, then you have reason to be excited today. A bunch of images from the in-production sequel's set popped up on the Marvel Films Facebook fan page, including looks at Cage in his aforementioned gear (as well as, in one case, a top hat). Paul MayburyBeing Jon Favreau must be a lot of fun, what with all the fun tech and guns he gets to play around with; his name does come with one enduring burden though — people tend to get him mixed up with Barack Obama's speechwriter, who just happens to also be named Jon Favreau. The "Iron Man" director issued a public service announcement last night after the president's State of the Union address, and his tweet was accompanied by thoughts from other realms of the comics-verse.

The night presented some eye candy in the feed as well. I strongly urge you to check out the Daredevil/Man-Thing commission that Paul Maybury shared and bask in its excellence. The links awaits you down below, along with info on what Mark Millar's been dreaming about and some shock in the wake of the new Thundercats series artwork that sprouted up online this week.

The revived "Wonder Woman" TV series is getting ready to finally live the dream. David E. Kelley, creator of "The Practice" and "Boston Legal" (among others), has been riding a roller-coaster for the superheroine series for the last bunch of weeks, but now it looks like things are finally evening out.

We learned of Kelley's involvement with the lasso-swinging Amazonian princess last year, when it was revealed that the TV veteran had joined forces with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. television to write and produce the series. Kelley cautioned fans a couple months later, saying that "Wonder Woman" wasn't any kind of "sure thing." He was right: every network passed on the script, including the WB-owned network The CW.

Then, two weeks later, a major turnaround occurred: NBC did pick up the show! Now the search for talent begins, and it seems Kelley and company are looping to rope in a big one: "Terminator Salvation" and "Charlie's Angels" director McG! Read More...

Maybe "RED" wasn't the top comic book movie from last year, but that's only because it was a crowded 2010 for comics in film.

The tale of four geriatric super-assassins pulled from retirement — a loose adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's three-issue miniseries for WildStorm — was still very entertaining overall. After all, how can you go wrong with a cast that features Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren?

Well, you can't — and that's why there's going to be a sequel. Read More...

We got our first peek at the new look for the "Thundercats" animated series yesterday via a photograph taken at the London Toy Fair. Now, we have an even better peek at the redesign Lion-O and the rest of his pals from Thundera will receive when the series premieres this year, thanks to an official image released by Warner Bros. Animation.

Once again, the new image features Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, and Cheetara in various heroic poses, with Lion-O wielding the Sword of Omens front and center. It also gives us another look at the anime-influenced style of animation we're likely to see in the series, courtesy of Japanese animators Studio4°C (“The Animatrix,” “Gotham Knights”). Read More...

Although "X-Men: First Class" star James McAvoy once joked that he planned to "bury" Patrick Stewart's well-known performance as Charles Xavier, it seems that he's changed his tune.

When MTV News caught up with the actor recently alongside his "Gnomeo and Juliet" co-star Emily Blunt (McAvoy is Gnomeo and, coincidentally, shares a scene with Stewart, who voices William Shakespeare), we asked McAvoy about his interactions with the celebrated thespian.

"Once I was very lucky to receive an award and he handed it to me," he recalled. "Which was nice because not only am I playing the young version of him in 'X-Men,' I’m just a fan of his from 'Star Trek' and David Lynch’s 'Dune' ... and lots of things." Read More...

Eric MartsolfWe won’t presume if and when we might see Tom Welling’s Clark Kent don his birthright duds and become the big “S” on the final season of "Smallville,” but that doesn’t mean we can’t guess that actually seeing Superman might be, if anything, a grand finale to CW’s record-breaking series.

To plump up the ice cream sundae under this (hopefully) inevitable cherry, two more DC heroes are soon to land in Superman’s hometown. According to EW blog Inside TV, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle have been cast in “Smallville.”

"Days of Our Lives" actor Eric Martsolf (pictured) has sealed the part of Booster Gold, while newcomer Jaren Brandt Bartlett has been cast as Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle. Both will star in the season’s Geoff Johns-directed 17th episode, entitled “Booster.” Read More...

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone may look oh so fine as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in what we’ve seen of Marvel’s upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate as to what might have come to fruition within Sam Raimi’s well-received take on the Spidey movie universe.

If one man makes it his business to act like he knows what’s going on in the Spider-Man universe, it’s Parker’s perpetually incensed boss, J. Jonah Jameson. During this year’s Sundance Film Festival, we made it our business to tap seasoned actor J.K. Simmons and find out what would have happened for Triple-J had Raimi retained the reigns.

“With those movies we always started with the script and then we expanded on it a lot,” Simmons explained to MTV News. Read More...

ThundercatsThe announcement of a new "Thundercats" animated series scheduled to premiere this year was one of the biggest stories of 2010 here on Splash Page, so we've kept on the lookout for any more details we can bring you about the upcoming return of Lion-O and the rest of the gang from Thundera.

Well, here's a big one, folks: it looks like we have our very first image of the cast of the series as they'll appear in their new animated form.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. Animation has released a new, official image of the "Thundercats" characters as they'll appear in the series.

Posted over at Bleeding Cool, the photo of a "Thundercats" promo poster was taken at this year's London Toy Fair, and features Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, and Tygra. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation with noted Japanese animation Studio4°C (“The Animatrix,” “Gotham Knights”) giving the characters a "21st Century reimagining" for the project.
