Kevin BaconAmerica’s been watching Kevin Bacon for a long time. It seems especially appropriate then, that having never been a part of any superhero movie ensemble, Mr. Bacon is going back to the very beginning of the X-Men legacy — the swinging '60s setting of “X-Men: First Class” — to play a formative role in the mutant team’s history.

In a lengthy interview with Moviefone, Bacon spoke about becoming Sebastian Shaw, the charming bon vivant, mutant, and leader of the Hellfire Club. In the process, Bacon reveals some significant tidbits on the much-debated plot and style of the Matthew Vaughn-directed prequel.

Today's announcement that Anne Hathaway will join "The Dark Knight Rises" cast as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) ends years of speculation regarding a potential return for the feline-friendly Batman character, but as any fans worth their capes and cowls know, the "Devil Wears Prada" actress isn't the first to bring the character to life on the big (or small) screen.

Check out our History Of Catwoman On The Screen gallery by clicking on the image below...

Catwoman

Whether it's Julie Newmar (pictured above) or Eartha Kitt in the 1960s "Batman" television series, Lee Meriwether in the live-action film based on the series, or Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 film "Batman Returns," Selina Kyle has always been a fan-favorite foil for The Dark Knight. However, as anyone who's seen 2004's "Catwoman" movie can attest, her live-action incarnations haven't always fared well in making the jump from page to screen. Read More...

BaneThe Riddler. Hugo Strange. Deadshot. Killer Croc. What do these iconic Batman villains all have in common? None of them are going to be played by Tom Hardy in "The Dark Knight Rises," contrary to persistent rumors.

Instead, Hardy, who was Christopher Nolan's first new hire for his last Batman movie's cast, is on board for Bane — and to say that we're pumped about this casting is nothing short of an understatement, if you'll forgive the pun.

For those of you who aren't terribly familiar with Bane, the gist of what you need to know about the character is after the jump! Read More...

Anne HathawayAfter several weeks, months and even years of rumors and erroneous reports, we can now say with the fullest of confidence that Catwoman, or at least her alter-ego Selina Kyle, is in "The Dark Knight Rises."

Whew! Doesn't that just feel good to say? Whether or not you're a fan of Christopher Nolan bringing Catwoman into his vision of Gotham City — with Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway inhabiting the role, no less — it's just nice to know that we're finally done with all of those pesky Catwoman rumors…

And believe us, there were a lot of them. Read More...

Sebastian StanSebastian Stan is back in New York after months spent in the UK filming "Captain America: The First Avenger." But Stan won't have to wait for a potential sequel or role in "The Avengers" to jump back into character as Bucky Barnes. That's because the 27-year-old expects to be called back to set for re-shoots in the coming months.

"It was from July up until December. We're finished for right now," Stan, who was honored as one of MTV News' 11 to Watch in 2011, said about the shoot. "The possibility of re-shoots is definitely a high percentage. But I think that always helps, because you can come back to it and see what it is that needs to be added or taken away. I think we'll have a little bit of that too." Read More...

DreddSylvester Stallone's "Judge Dredd" adaptation wasn't exactly a fan-favorite, to say the least. Thankfully, the character's silver screen revival in "Dredd" looks a lot more promising, a fact that's further endorsed by comments from co-creator John Wagner.

Wagner recently visited the South Africa set of "Dredd" and has discussed his experiences on Facebook (via Bleeding Cool), saying that his expectations for this version of Mega City One's helmeted enforcer are a lot higher than Stallone's previous effort.

"Very pleased with what I saw of Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby," he said. "Both excellent in their roles and work well as a team. Entire crew really dedicated and determined to produce a damned good movie." Read More...

Anne HathawayThe cat is officially out of the bag, and the search for Batman's leading lady is at least partially over. Consider it official, folks: Anne Hathaway is Catwoman. Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. have announced that the Oscar-nominated actress is joining "The Dark Knight Rises" as Selina Kyle, the alter-ego of Batman's feline nemesis.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," Nolan said in an official statement.

Additionally, the filmmaker revealed that longtime cast member Tom Hardy will be playing the role of Bane: “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Read More...

Spider-ManYesterday we got a peek at some new photos from the Los Angeles set of the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, and given all the videos and images that arrived online today, it looks like we'll have no shortage of on-set coverage throughout the film's production.

Over at On Location Vacations, they've posted more photos from the scene being shot yesterday, in which Spider-Man runs across a busy street and jumps into the back of a pickup truck. Another photo shows him leaping (assisted by wires) from the truck to the roof of a tractor trailer.

But that's not all the Spidey news that hit the 'net in the last 24 hours. Along with a nice little piece of footage that offers a blurry first look at Spider-Man's mask, there's also some unofficial news regarding the presence — or lack thereof — of Daily Bugle chief J. Jonah Jameson. Read More...

X-Men First ClassSo whatever the real story is behind that purported "X-Men: First Class" photo that showed up yesterday, whether it's real or not, it got Twitter talking. Some creators liked it. Other trashed it. And it also led to a provocative revelation from Jeff Parker.

In other posting, Brian Michael Bendis got his hands on a controller to play "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" (assuming he really did mean the new game and not "Clash of Super Heroes" for the Sega Dreamcast), he seems to be a big fan. Check out what he had to say, as well as who's been hanging out with the "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Cast" and what Edgar Wright thinks about 3-D movies after the jump.

Captain AmericaIf you're worried that the lack of a "Captain America" trailer so far means that Marvel Studios isn't happy with the film, Joe Johnston has some good news for you: after watching a first cut of the film, the director has declared that his movie is "a helluva lot of fun to watch."

“I watched the movie for the first time a few days ago and I just looked at the first cut and there is so much entertainment value," he said in an interview with Hero Complex. "It’s just flat-out fun to watch.”

Naturally, Johnston isn't without some bias towards "Captain America" considering that he, you know, directed the film. That said, Johnston acknowledges his bias and says he still thinks Cap is a winner. Read More...
