Oscars 2011MTV News was live on the red carpet at this year's Oscars, but just in case you missed our streaming broadcast outside the big show, here's a quick roundup of all the news we gathered from the world of comic book movies:

- "X-Men: First Class" actress Jennifer Lawrence looked great on the red carpet, and discussed the good and bad of spending her days in blue body paint for the upcoming film about Marvel's famous mutants.

- Gwyneth Paltrow told us whether she'd met new "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black yet, and pondered the possibility of Pepper Potts' return. Read More...

After an unofficial report hit the 'net a few weeks ago that production on "Men In Black 3" was delayed due to script problems, we weren't alone in wondering whether the third installment of the popular sci-fi franchise was in troubled waters.

When MTV News caught up with "Men In Black 3" actor Josh Brolin during this weekend's Academy Awards, we asked him whether the time-traveling adventure that has him playing a younger version of Tommie Lee Jones' character was indeed in danger.

"No, no... It's good," Brolin told MTV News. "We're finally starting up again." Read More...

Green LanternWe're edging ever closer to the June premiere of "Green Lantern," and that means more emerald-hued swag is appearing around the 'net every day. For example, a new set of "Green Lantern" movie posters just arrived online that are worth checking out — if only to get another peek at some of the non-human members of the Green Lantern Corps.

Posted over at The Daily Blam, the new posters are from NECA's line of "Green Lantern" licensed merchandise. They all offer a big shot of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, but it's the poster featuring several alien members of the Corps that really caught my eye.

While Kilowog and Tomar-Re are pretty easy to identify, the poster also features two more aliens that I think are Rot Lop Fan (upper-left) and Isamot Kol (lower-right). There are also a few silhouettes of alien corps members in a second poster (including Salaak and Bzzd). Read More...

This weekend, Mark Ruffalo revealed some details about how the Hulk will look in 2012's superhero team-up "The Avengers," but that wasn't all the news the actor shared with us about his upcoming turn as the green goliath's alter ego, Bruce Banner.

During last night's run-up to the Academy Awards, Ruffalo spoke to MTV News on the red carpet and shed a little more light on how the balance between Bruce Banner and Hulk will play out in "The Avengers."

Asked how much time he'll spend as Bruce Banner and as Hulk, Ruffalo said, "It's about equal. It really is." Read More...

We've been hearing about a "Powers" television series based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's popular comic book series for more than two years now, with the most recent report indicating that a former member of "The Walking Dead" team had joined the project. There's been little in the way of news since then, but now we have another big update.

Bendis recently confirmed on Twitter that the series was picked up and greenlit for a pilot by FX. The Hollywood Reporter further confirms that "The Walking Dead" castoff Charles Eglee will serve as executive producer alongside Bendis, Oeming, Michael Dinner, David Engel, and "The Walking Dead" production company Circle of Confusion.

The report also seems to indicate that Kevin Falls, who was attached to adapt the comic "at one point," is no longer involved. Read More...

Oscar winnersThe gloves came off when Oscar tweeting began last night. Haters, lovers and Banksy supporters all responded to what was going on at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre Sunday, and in many cases their play-by-play was more entertaining that whatever was going on on-screen.

Kevin Smith, for instance described "Toy Story 3" in his own predictably provocative way, while Kirk Douglas and Trent Reznor both became big topics for other creators. Just don't bring up Gwyneth Paltrow's performance with Jason Aaron, because he clearly was not a fan. Find out who Batman backed, who Patton Oswalt compared to Charlie Sheen and what could have made the night worse down below.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for February 28, 2011. Read More...

General Zod may well be Krypton's most hated villain, but Terence Stamp's appearance in "Superman II" as the escaped Phantom Zone convict also turned him into a fan-favorite character. So it's no surprise that Zack Snyder's upcoming "Superman" reboot could feature the extraterrestrial criminal as a key villain (as was previously rumored) — and Warner Bros. reportedly to have their eye on Viggo Mortensen for the role.

Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan have tagged the "Lord of the Rings" star as a "person of interest," according to anonymous sources speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.

The powers-that-be are still looking at other actors, though Mortensen getting the gig would amount to marquee casting for what we can assume to be one of the film's key roles. Read More...

ThunderCatsEver since we first got word of the new "ThunderCats" animated series premiering this year, we've been waiting to see our first official footage from the much-anticipated reboot. And now the wait is over...

Debuting this weekend on Cartoon Network, a new "ThunderCats" promo offered our first glimpse at how Lion-O and the rest of the gang from Thundera will look when the series finally airs. While the new trailer gave us our first look at the series' heroes and villains in action, there's still a lot we haven't seen from the upcoming cartoon — including a few things we noticed during our "ThunderCats" toy preview during Toy Fair 2011. "The Avengers" hits theaters in 2012, bringing together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and a host of other Marvel Comics heroes in one massive team-up event. While each of the aforementioned characters will have made their debut in a solo movie (or two) by the time "Avengers" premieres, the film will also feature a few other well-known heroes — including Jeremy Renner as super-marksman Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye.

MTV News caught up with Renner on the Oscars red carpet to get a few more details about his upcoming debut as the Avengers' expert archer, and how much he's seen of the "Avengers" script.

"Yes, I have [read the 'Avengers' script]," Renner told MTV News. "It's tremendous. I can't tell you anything about it." Read More...

Sure, this year is going to be a big one for comic book movies, but with "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Avengers" both hitting theaters in 2012, next year is shaping up to be a pretty blockbuster year, too.

Christopher Nolan is still putting pieces in place for the grand finale of his Batman movie trilogy, but when MTV News caught him on the red carpet at this weekend's Academy Awards, we couldn't help fishing for a few details about the final chapter of his celebrated franchise.

Asked about the tone of the third film, Nolan said he simply doesn't have an answer at this point — or at the very least, isn't willing to share it with everyone yet. Read More...
