With every great new comic book movie comes great resp- um, rumor-mongering. The most recent and intriguing being the report that three actresses are vying for a role in Zack Snyder's "Superman" reboot. The ladies in question were reported to be Diane Kruger, Alice Eve, and Rosamund Pike, and rumored to be up for an unidentified role that wasn't ace reporter Lois Lane.
MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with Kruger this weekend during a press day for her upcoming thriller with Liam Neeson, "Unknown," where we asked her to address those pesky rumors.
"They're all false rumors," the "Inglourious Basterds" star said when we asked if she might be gearing up to play a feisty villain. "I don't know who launched them but it's not true."
Now we know that sometimes actors can't reveal or comment on whether they're in contention for a role or not, thus indicating that there might be some truth hidden in a denial/subtext, however Kruger seemed sincere in her denial. She said there is absolutely no truth to that report — none whatsoever.
So it's back to the drawing board, so to speak. A recent rumor pegged the three actresses for a potential turn as as an unidentified Kryptonian villainess, and since we don't have confirmation that Eve and Pike are out of the running yet, there's nothing to really go on at this point.
There's always the possibility that the role could go to one of the actresses that have worked with Snyder in the past. Carla Gugino is always a nice addition to a film. She would be great as a villain too... maybe one of the "Sucker Punch" girls, perhaps?
