Following in the tradition of "Batman: Gotham Knights," an animated short anthology tying into director Christopher Nolan's 2008 sequel "The Dark Knight," Warner Bros. is prepping a similar release to arrive alongside this summer's Ryan Reynolds-starring DC Comic adaptation, "Green Lantern."
Dubbed "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights," the home video release will arrives on June 7, 10 days before the release of the film. And today brings us our first official look at the anthology's version of Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
The "Emerald Knights" still (shown above) appeared on TV Guide alongside an image of Nathan Fillion, who voices the animated superhero, wearing a "Green Lantern" T-shirt. The voice cast also includes Elizabeth Moss, Jason Isaacs, Kelly Hu, Henry Rollins and "They Live" star "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
Fillion will, of course, voice Hal Jordan, member of an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. Earth's space is where his jurisdiction lies, and the "Emerald Knights" vignettes will follow him on a series of adventures in which he will be joined by new recruit Arisia (Moss).
The "Castle" star and geek hero is beside himself with excitement at having the opportunity to put his voice behind one of the most iconic characters in comic books.
"I was always reading the comic books, I was always a spectator,"Fillion told TV Guide. "Now I feel like I own a little piece of Green Lantern."
Fillion is also excited to see Reynolds make his bow as Jordan in the big-screen summer blockbuster. The two actors came up together on the ABC sitcom "Two Guys and a Girl," which is what opened the door to a wider range of work opportunities for both actors.
"He's a great guy, a gem," said Fillion of Reynolds. "[He] deserves all the success that he's getting. ...So it's neat to have a little piece and share it with someone you know."
