We're just shy of a year away from the premiere of "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance," Nicolas Cage's second go-around as Marvel's leather-clad, skeletal anti-hero. Even though the film is still shooting in Romania, we managed to sneak in a few questions about it as its star made the press rounds for "Drive Angry 3D," his new, explosive adventure that arrived in theaters today.

"It’s going to be really wild," said Cage of the "Ghost Rider" pseudo-sequel. "[There's] a lot of adrenaline. It’s like extreme sports." Read More...

SupersizedJust when you thought it was safe to hit the drive-thru again,"Supersized: Strange Tales From A Fast-Food Culture" arrives on the shelf at your local comic shop.

Written by "Super Size Me" director Morgan Spurlock with writer Jeremy Barlow, "Supersized" is an original graphic novel that serves as a companion to Spurlock's 2004, Oscar-nominated documentary about fast food, culture, and the industry that feeds it. Tony Millionaire, Ron English, and a variety of other illustrators provide what's likely to be some truly stomach-churning visuals for the anthology, which includes both original stories and several that expand upon those in the original documentary.

"Supersized" hits shelves March 9, but the good folks at Dark Horse Comics have given Splash Page readers an exclusive preview of the book. Read More...

Iron ManThis weekend's Academy Awards might be low on comic book movie fare, but that doesn't mean there aren't some interesting, comics-friendly subplots to be found in the Oscar madness. For example, a new report suggests that "The King's Speech" director Tom Hooper was offered the director's chair for "Iron Man 3" after Jon Favreau bowed out of the franchise late last year.

According to a Los Angeles Times blog, "a person who has worked closely with Hooper" indicated that the Oscar-nominated director was one of the filmmakers approached by Marvel after Favreau's departure. The report indicates that Hooper declined the gig, which eventually went to "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" director Shane Black.

While the pairing of Hooper with Tony Stark's armored alter ego might seem to come out of left field, it's not entirely unprecedented. Read More...

SupermanMuch like the contestants facing the judges on "American Idol" last night, Apple fans today celebrated and sighed in response to the tech-maker's new MacPros. Creators in the market for new laptops with superfast Thunderbolt plugs have reason to be giddy, while disappointment among those who recently upgraded their laptops was palpable.

In other tweets, Erik Larsen sounded off about an improvement he'd like to see made to some old "Superman" scenes. Find out if you agree with him after the jump. It's stacked on top of details about which comic book creator embraces nakedness and how Mark Millar deals with a hangover.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for February 24, 2011. Read More...

"X-Men: First Class" opens on June 3, offering a 1960s-set look back at the origins of Marvel's premiere mutant super-team, the X-Men. Informed by the mythos built over four previous films, "First Class" offers a new look at familiar characters, particularly the connection between Charles "Professor X" Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik "Magneto" Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender).

McAvoy spoke a little bit about the duo's dynamic in a recent interview, calling it a "love story" that finds common ground with the classic Western, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."

"This is the first time in their lives they’ve met someone who is an equal of sorts, someone who understands them and can connect and push them too," he said during a chat with Hero Complex. "Especially Charles, he’s fascinated with Erik and his potential. For Erik, Charles is the first person he’s trusted to really tell about his past and the first person to understand the horrible things he’s been through." Read More...

SmallvilleEarlier this month we reported that "Smallville" would be getting its own version of "The Hangover," and from the looks of this week's preview, that's exactly what we'll see in Friday's episode.

Titled "Fortune," the episode features Clark Kent and Lois Lane attempting to piece together the details of their bachelor and bachelorette parties after imbibing some magical liquor (a gift from Zatanna). The episode will also feature the debut of Amos Fortune, a character played by James Kidnie and based on the DC Comics villain.

The episode synopsis, trailer, and preview clip released by The CW indicate that it was a particularly wild night for the gang — a night that might involve Clark marrying Chloe Sullivan and robbing an armored car, and Lois conducting some sketchy business of her own with a casino owner. Spider-Man musicalOkay, so this is awesome. A new, off-Broadway Spider-Man musical is aiming to beat “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” to its current release date (currently March 15).

Set to premiere at the People’s Improv Theater in New York—a day before the thoroughly critiqued Julie Taymor production—is a satirical song and dance entitled “The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”.

Created by improviser Justin Moran, the comedic piece purports to compose a “fully realized” Spider-Man musical in under 30 days—with no budget. Of course, that particular provision stands in great contrast to Taymor’s massively funded “Turn Off The Dark.” Read More...

All-Star Superman"All-Star Superman," the latest film in DC's line of animated features, had a lot to live up from the very first moment moment the project was announced. Based on Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's award-winning, 12-issue comic book series, "All-Star Superman" faced the super-heroic task of living up to the accolades of its source material while bringing the signature styles of the comic's creators to life on the screen.

In the original series, Superman is pitted against an enemy he can't overcome with a well-timed punch or a blast of heat vision: his own mortality. Diagnosed with a fatal case of radiation poisoning, the Man of Steel has only a short time left to take care of everything he's meant to do in life, and ensure the world is in good hands after he leaves.

Directed by Sam Liu ("Superman/Batman: Public Enemies") and adapted by recently deceased comics and animation writer Dwayne McDuffie ("Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths"), "All-Star Superman" features James Denton ("Desperate Housewives") as Superman, Christina Hendricks ("Mad Men") as Lois Lane, Anthony LaPaglia ("Without A Trace") as Lex Luthor, Ed Asner ("Up") as Perry White, and Matthew Gray Gubler ("Criminal Minds," MTV's 2009 Hump Day Hottie Of The Year) as Jimmy Olsen, among others.

But does it make a successful leap from page to screen? Read More...
