Adrianne PalickiBy now you've probably heard the news: Adrianne Palicki is the new Wonder Woman. Superman - Henry CavillGiven how early it is in the production cycle for Zack Snyder's reboot of the "Superman" movie franchise, it comes as a bit of a surprise that we're already getting our first official look at the new Man of Steel. But hey, no complaints here!

British actor Henry Cavill appears on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, clean-shaven and clad in a leather jacket with a worn t-shirt sporting the familiar red-and-yellow "S" logo. And just as the cover suggests, the image offers fans an early meeting with the new Superman — sans iconic costume, but also missing the trademark eyeglasses of his alter ego, Clark Kent.

Over at the magazine's website, there's a preview of the issue, which includes an interview with Cavill about how he landed the coveted role. Read more...

"Men in Black 3" kicked off production last year, only to immediately go on a months-long hiatus through and beyond the holidays. Just last week Tommy Lee Jones revealed that "there are vast pieces of the script yet unwritten," so today's news of another delay should come as no surprise.

"Men in Black 3" was set to go up in front of cameras earlier this week, but a delay has pushed the start date back to March 28, Hero Complex reports. An inside sources pegs that added wait time to script issues, echoing Jones' words from last week. This is actually the third delay for the long-in-development sequel, after the production was pushed from October to November last year.

In related news, Alice Eve has been cast as the younger version of the MIB agency boss played by Emma Thompson, Deadline reports. The "Harry Potter" actress signed on last October, to play a "take-charge MIB operative who is monitoring a prison breakout." Read more...

Spider-Man musicalAmong the many complaints lobbed at "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," the budget-busting Broadway musical plagued by problems, fans of the wall-crawler's comic book adventures have found little to like about the show's loose interpretation of the Marvel superhero's origin story. That could change, however, now that the show has seen fit to have someone with real comics experience rework the show's story.

According to Deadline, accomplished scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has joined the "Turn Off The Dark" creative team and will rewrite the musical's story to bring it more in line with the webslinger's familiar history.

A writer with comics, stage, and television credits to his name, Aguirre-Sacasa recently penned a successful update of Charles Strouse and Lee Adams' musical "It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman!" He was also the author of a long run on Marvel's "Sensational Spider-Man" comic book series. Read more...

Matthew VaughnFrom the outside looking in, it seems as though Matthew Vaughn might have enough comics-themed projects looming on his horizon, with "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall" to keep him busy from taking on anything else superhero-related.

Not so, according to a report from Deadline. The writer/director/producer is apparently close to locking down a deal with a "major Hollywood studio" to fully fund his next project, "The Golden Age." According to the report, "Golden Age," will revolve around a group of retired superheroes living in a retirement home together.

An obvious nod to the Golden Age in comics, the story is said to be based on a soon-to-be-published comic book written by British TV talk show host Jonathan Ross. Read more...

PreacherAt this point, it's easier to list all of the directors who haven't been connected with a a live-action adaptation of the Vertigo comic book series "Preacher" at one point or another. From Mark Steven Johnson ("Ghost Rider") to Sam Mendes ("American Beauty") — and even Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan") — the list of filmmakers associated with the project is long, and getting longer.

Earlier this week, SlashFilm reported that one of its "well placed Hollywood spys" [sic] had indicated that "I Am Number Four" director D.J. Caruso was currently in talks to direct the long-awaited "Preacher" movie. While the initial report offered little in the way of official confirmation, Spinoff Online now indicates that the subject of "Preacher" came up in conversation with the director hours before the original rumor began circulating. We have to wait until June for "Green Lantern" to hit theaters, but this week's debut of the trailer for the "Green Lantern: Rise Of The Manhunters" video game offers us yet another peek at Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan... sort of.

The new game, which is scheduled to hit shelves in Spring 2011 (around the same time the movie premieres, most likely), features the movie-version of Hal Jordan joining with his fellow members of the Green Lantern Corps to battle their predecessors — the lethal Manhunter robots.

Along with offering up a pretty epic trailer for the game, the preview closes with Reynolds invoking the first few lines of the Green Lantern oath. Read more...

Thor toy Chris HemsworthAs always, Toy Fair 2011 drew quite a crowd of industry movers and shakers, collectors, and fans this year — but it also attracted a few big movie stars, too. Case in point: "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth and "Captain America: The First Avenger" star Chris Evans made a surprise appearance at the Hasbro showroom this week to check out the upcoming line of toys based on their Marvel blockbusters.

We posted our video (and photo) preview of the "Captain America" movie toys yesterday, but it's always fun to see what the actors themselves think of the toys based on their likeness. The good folks at Hasbro were nice enough to send over a few photos of Evans and Hemsworth checking out the goods — including a nice shot of both actors goofing around with a kid-friendly version of Thor's hammer and a plastic, disc-shooting replica of Captain America's shield.

Too old for toys? I SAY THEE NAY!!! Read more...
