We're still a long ways off from seeing Superman return to the screen in Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of the Warner Bros. film franchise, but the wait has been made more tolerable by a regular dose of updates from the filmmaker, cast, and creative team.
Snyder recently sat down with The Los Angeles Times to discuss the project, and the brief interview offered up a few interesting updates on the Superman reboot — including confirmation that the working title for the film is "Man Of Steel," though that hasn't been finalized at this point. The "Watchmen" director also indicated that the reboot will indeed be a complete reboot of the series, ignoring previous "Superman" films.
“Literally, the one thing that everyone can start to think about is that we’re making a movie that finally goes with the approach that there’s been no other Superman movies,” explained Snyder. "In every aspect of design and of story, the whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don’t be a slave to the movies." Read more...

In many ways, Bryan Singer created the modern-day X-Men as they exist in film. His work on the first two movies in the Marvel Comics-adapted franchise honored the source while giving it a new spin and the fans responded appreciatively. Now Singer is back to produce Matthew Vaughn's 1960s-set prequel, "X-Men: First Class," which explores the origins of Marvel's premiere mutant super-team.
Singer recently sat down to field some questions in a fan Q&A, where he revealed, among other things, that there is one character in particular he wished he could have fit into the June 3 release.
"Quicksilver," he said simply, without explanation, in response to a question in the Facebook-hosted Q&A. Read more...

Ryan Reynolds isn’t just playing Green Lantern in a movie, he’s also writing about the character for the introduction to "Green Lantern: Secret Origin,” a re-release of the 2008 series that examined the start of Hal Jordan’s superhero career.
The full introduction is posted at ComicBookMovie.com, and in about 500 words, Reynolds describes his history with Hal, and admits that he wasn’t an expert on the character until recently. All that changed, however, when talk of a film came up.
“About a year and a half ago, I first sat down with Martin Campbell, Donald DeLine, and a man whom I consider responsible for the resurgent interest in Green Lantern, Geoff Johns," writes Reynolds. "They were all eager to build a big screen superhero who would both live up to his lengthy legacy, yet simultaneously find a foothold with a whole new audience--young and old alike." Read more...

It's no small task to be the adoptive mother of one of the most powerful beings in the universe, but actress Diane Lane seems to be getting pretty comfortable with the idea of playing Superman's mom in Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of Warner Bros. film franchise.
“It’s going to be a wild ride,” Lane told USA Weekend of the "Superman" reboot, which casts her as Martha Kent, adoptive mother to the last son of Krypton.
Lane said she recently watched Snyder's "Watchmen" in order to prep for Snyder's unique filmmaking style and vision, and "to remind myself of what an audacious, brilliant man Zack Snyder is." Read more...

It's nothing new for trading card companies to include a piece of an athlete's jersey in some of their hard-to-find cards, but now it looks like Hollywood blockbusters are getting the same treatment. Case in point: Upper Deck's new line of "Thor" movie memorabilia cards.
Over at TraderCracks.com, they've posted a gallery of the upcoming "Thor" costume cards, which will each include an authentic piece of material from the costumes worn by the film's cast. That means that you can own your very own piece of Thor armor worn by Chris Hemsworth — or a piece of Jane Foster's jeans, as worn by Natalie Portman.
Interestingly, there are a couple of variations of Odin, Thor, and Jane Foster memorabilia cards, but only one of Volstagg. You'd think that guy's size would mean a wealth of cards culled from his costume. Read more...

It's been a landmark week for artwork in the Twitter Report feed this week. Posts continued today with Pete Woods serving up a "Doctor Who" doodle and Jill Thompson sharing her take on Starfire.
TV tweets were in full effect, too, with the "V" finale drawing mixed criticism from Rob Liefeld and Mark Sable. Elsewhere, the Trump Roast earned a cheers and jeers for its roasters. Brian Lynch even thinks the Red Cross may want to get involved. Find out more about that and what they call Cloak and Dagger in France down below.

By and large, fans were unimpressed with Mark Steven Johnson's 2003 adaptation of the Marvel Comics series "Daredevil" for 20th Century Fox. While it was a masterpiece compared to the "Elektra" spin-off that followed, it still fell short of expectations.
Fox has held onto the rights since then by keeping a follow-up in development, and now momentum is building for another adventure with the blind lawyer/vigilante superhero, to be helmed by "30 Days of Night" director David Slade.
Slade will work on what sources tell Variety is "a continuation of the 'Daredevil' saga," picking up after the events of the 2003 film, which starred Ben Affleck. The sequel-not-reboot status is further confirmed by Deadline, though no further information than that is revealed. A writer has not been hired, but the person will reportedly "work closely" with Slade on developing the story. Read more...
