"Thor" opens in the United States on May 6, one of the last in the line of worldwide releases that kick off in Australia on April 21. As if the added wait wasn't enough, it now turns out that the Marvel Studios blockbuster will be premiering in Sydney, Australia as well, on April 17. It's like star Chris Hemsworth is from there or something. Oh... right.

Hemsworth will be joined on the red carpet by director Kenneth Branagh and stars Kat Dennings, who plays Darcy, Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, and Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif.

The premiere will mark the kickoff of a two-day promotion tour through the country, with stops in Sydney and Hemsworth's home town of Melbourne. Fellow star Natalie Portman isn't mentioned and likely won't be participating since she is expecting her first child this summer. Read more...

SXSWSouth by Southwest is great, because even if you can't get away to Texas to check out all of the media and music nerdery going on, you can follow just about every event there via Twitter. Simon Pegg had a blast showing off his new movie "Paul," while Brett Ratner encountered some problems after leaving his cellphone in a cab.

Meanwhile, diligent comics artists like Mike Oeming and Peter Krause have been honing their skills as usual and posting process shots, which are always great to see. You see those below, along with some reactions to "Celebrity Apprentice" and Gail Simone's wish for a new take on Conan.

The world of "True Blood" has already won itself a loyal following as both a popular series of novels and an HBO television series, and now it looks like comic books could be the next medium to find itself under the thrall of Bon Temps' vampires.

Last month, we told you about the Los Angeles signing event celebrating the release of “All Together Now,” a collection of the first six issues of IDW Publishing's "True Blood" comic book series, and "Tainted Love" #1, the first issue of the series' second volume (co-written by "True Blood" actor Michael McMillian). Just in case you couldn't make it to the City of Angels, here's a taste of who was there and what you missed:

"I've actually always wanted to be a comic book character," laughed Rutina Wesley, who plays Tara Thornton on the HBO series. Read more...

The first teasing glimpse at director Marcus Nispel's "Conan the Barbarian" arrived on Saturday. The minute-long trailer features a curling wisp of smoke with incomplete flashes of movie footage popping in behind it.

While it might not be the reveal fans were hoping for, the teaser nonetheless serves up our first look at the movie in action, compliments of Yahoo!. And for all the pictures we've seen, it's still cool to see Jason Momoa as Conan pop up roughly halfway through, sword held to his side in a visual reference to the pose Arnold Schwarzenegger struck in one of the original 1982 film's images. With the live-action "Thor" movie hitting theaters in just a few months, it's no surprise that Marvel is offering up all sorts of new projects lately that are themed around the hammer-wielding god of thunder.

The latest is "Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers," an animated series based on Robert Rodi and Esad Ribic's epic 2004 four-issue comic book series "Loki." The story will explore the relationship between Thor and his villainous half-brother — and why Loki's diabolical machinations might not be as rooted in evil as they often appear to be.

The animated series appears to feature a more motion-comic style of animation for Ribic's original art (which is absolutely beautiful — so that's a good thing). You can read the full press release below to find out more about the series. Read more...

Way back in 2009, actor Derek Luke revealed that Will Smith was offered the starring role in "Captain America: The First Avenger." In an odd twist, Luke later came to join the cast of this summer's Joe Johnston-directed Marvel Comics adaptation, though nothing was announced as far as what role he would be playing.

Well, it seems that that particular mystery has now been cleared up.

Luke will reportedly play Gabe Jones, of the elite World War II Howling Commandos squad. That's what a "reliable source" tells BlackFilm. Read more...

Green LanternBy now we know that when "Green Lantern" hits theaters, we'll not only be treated to Ryan Reynolds' debut as Hal Jordan, but we'll also see a host of other, significantly more alien members of the Green Lantern Corps.

We've seen Sinestro, Abin Sur, Kilowog, Tomar-Re, and a few other members of the Corps in the "Green Lantern" trailer, and between filmmaker interviews and various merchandise related to the film, we know that Bzzd, Isamot Kol, Salaak, and various other notable Lanterns will make an appearance, too. But what about the sentient planet, Mogo?

Well, it looks like Mogo might make an appearance after all, judging by a new promotional image for the film. Read more...

Spider-Man musicalIt's pretty much impossible to lead with any type of humor or sarcasm on a day like today, but everyone impacted by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, as well as the subsequent warnings in Hawaii and on the Pacific Coast in the U.S., are in our thoughts. Brian Michael Bendis has been assuring people he's safe in Hawaii, while Oregon and California residents have been keeping an eye out for what's to come.

In other posting, the week's big stories regarding "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" and Charlie Sheen continued last night. Marc Bernardin tweeted his thoughts about catching the show before Julie Taymor's departure, while law enforcement officials paid a visit to Sheen's home. Find out what that has to do with "Blade" down below.

Harvey DentBack in December, actor Aaron Eckhart appeared to end speculation about a potential return for his character, Harvey Dent, in the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman movie franchise, "The Dark Knight Rises." Since then, the actor has frequently reiterated that we've seen the last of Harvey — who seemingly died at the end of the film after becoming the scarred villain known as Two-Face.

Until now, that is.

In a recent interview with CBS News, Eckhart was presented with the question yet again, but offered a noticeably different response when the reporter indicated that his character wasn't returning for "The Dark Knight Rises." Read more...
