WilliamThe inhabitants of the comics Twittersphere contemplated some pressing issues today, such as the alarming lack of William Shatner tattoos in the world on the actor's 80th birthday, as well as the "House" writing team's interest in Superman and why people ask really disturbing questions on Formspring.

Additionally, Greg Horn posted one of the best photos of the month on his account when he caught "Star Wars" actor Peter Mayhew together with artist Michael Golden. Have a gander at that and Edgar Wright's thoughts on music in Los Angeles down below.

AkiraA script can spend forever in the editing stage, so anticipators of the developing live-action movie version of “Akira” should feel lucky to hear the project is finally materializing. After all, the film’s script—taken on in mid November for polishing by “Harry Potter” writer Steve Kloves—is an adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s sprawling 6 volume manga, and not a remake of the 1988 anime.

According to Deadline, Klove’s edits have Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures brass along with director Albert Hughes “excited” enough to forward the script to a short list of actors.

The Walking DeadBy Chris Arrant

There were many announcements made at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo last weekend, but one of the most eye-opening of them all was when ”The Walking Dead” actress Laurie Holden relayed a rumor that horror novelist Stephen King was going to write an episode of the series. That ignited a firestorm of speculation – speculation that was turned into anticipation when the rumor was confirmed with the novelist himself.

“['The Walking Dead' showrunner Frank Darabont] has expressed enthusiastic interest for Season 2 or possibly 3,” King told Entertainment Weekly, confirming Holden's comments in a C2E2 panel report by Comic Book Resources.

The WolverineNow that Darren Aronofsky is no longer directing "The Wolverine," the field is wide open for another filmmaker interested in tackling Logan's second solo adventure.

Way back in September 2010, before Aronofsky was confirmed for the gig, we suggested five directors we thought would be good for the project (he was one of them). In the months that since, we've learned more about the film and, well... let's just say it's time to revise our list.

After much debate around Splash Page HQ, we've come up with a list of five filmmakers we'd like to see behind the camera when Wolverine heads to Japan. Read more...

Amanda SeyfriedSeven years after making her movie debut in “Mean Girls” Amanda Seyfried—currently starring in “Red Riding Hood”—is a hotter-than-ever Hollywood commodity. But despite having the look and fantasy genre chops, Seyfried has yet to breach the equally bankable comic-based movie circuit.

As it turns out, she’s kind of bummed about it. At the very least, the actress—once a shoe-in for the lead in “Sucker Punch”—is bummed about missing out on what would have been her second chance to work with director Zack Snyder.

“I auditioned for a role in the new ‘Superman’ and didn’t get it,” Seyfried told Australian blog AdelaideNow. Read more...

Last week was an emotional roller-coaster here on MTV Splash Page. On one hand, you had the devastating news that Darren Aronofsky stepped away from directing "The Wolverine." And on the other, David Slade, a former front-runner for the "Wolverine" gig, signed on to direct a new Daredevil movie.

While the original report described Slade's movie as "a continuation of the saga," that may not actually be the case.

The director took to Twitter over the weekend with a series of updates on "Daredevil" and other projects. In one particularly telling post, he writes, "It will [bear] no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast." Wonder WomanDavid E. Kelley, the man behind the new “Wonder Woman” television series, has plenty to tell about getting involved with the project and how Adrianne Palicki was chosen for the lead role. For starters, he initially said "No" to the project.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Kelley discussed how he ended up changing his mind and taking on “Wonder Woman."

“When I started thinking about all the complications and potential layers to this superhero, I just got more and more intrigued,” Kelly said. “It was also something I was a little bit afraid of. That’s good, too. Any writer should get out of his or her comfort zone, and this was way outside of mine.” Read more...
