The first trailer for “X-Men: First Class” debuted back in February, and the June premiere is being hotly anticipated. To tide you over until the official release, we at Splash Page have come across a very unique fan-made trailer.
Slash Film posted this opening sequence trailer, which came from Joe D! who made it after Super Punch held a contest to redesign posters for "X-Men: First Class."
Explaining what he attempted to do, Joe D! said, “This sequence was designed to give a very brief primer on the time period, the setting, as well as show the relationships of the characters in this film, as they are very different from the previous movies and audiences shouldn't be confused as to why Professor X and Magneto, enemies in the original trilogy, are the best of friend in this prequel.”
This opening took full advantage of the fact “X-Men: First Class” takes place in the 1960s. It uses the imagery and the psychedelic atmosphere we so readily equate with that era. It also shows real photographs, including some featuring JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr. Much of the video is pure zaniness, but it tackles some serious subjects too, including racism.
“X-Men: First Class” hits theaters June 3, 2011.
Do you like the 60s theme for the opening? Would you have used different imagery? How would you like the opening of “X-Men: First Class” to look? Let us know in the comments section or on Twitter!
