Wrestling fans reacted with mixed emotions after Edge announced his retirement from WWE. Jill Thompson, for one, wished him well. Meanwhile, Vito Delsante took the opportunity to kick up some conspiracy dust around Vince McMahon.
Ron Jeremy was on a few minds for some reason as well. Bendis wants to see him in a movie, while Pete Woods wished for a comic book featuring the adult film star. Their tweets, some "Doctor Who" commentary as the new season nears and a very special wish regarding ponies show up today after the jump.

Yesterday we learned who Superman will be facing off against in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Man Of Steel" reboot, but a week earlier lead actor Henry Cavill took yet another step toward becoming the big-screen version of the DC hero.
What big step did he take? He set foot inside his first comic convention (WonderCon) — and MTV News was right beside him!
In the video above, you can see Cavill's reaction to the WonderCon crowds, and find out what he thinks about assuming the mantle of one of comics' most iconic heroes.

As the actor playing Charles Xavier in the soon-to-be-released “X-Men: First Class,” James McAvoy has plenty to say about the movie, his character, and any possible sequels.
Speaking with the Italian publication Comicus, McAvoy revealed some details about the plot of the upcoming film.
"It’s about the burgeoning tension between these two characters, Erik Lehnsherr, played by Michael Fassbender, and my character, Charles Xavier,” he said. “And on a greater level, it’s about where this new species of mutants is going to go. It can go two ways: they can regard themselves as the next step of human evolution or they can regard themselves as an entirely new species in conflict with humanity.” Read more...

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about “Ant-Man” — the movie set to feature Marvel’s shrinking superhero as envisioned by stylistically distinctive writer and director Edgar Wright. As Wright himself said, Hank Pym’s lower profile within the Marvel Universe fortunately means means more creative attention and less deadline anxiety.
SuperHeroHype caught the first “Ant-Man” update since January’s news that Wright had resumed writing the script with Joe Cornish, whose festival-circuiting film “Attack the Block” stars frequent Wright collaborator Nick Frost.
Speaking at London’s first-ever Kapow! Comic Con this past Saturday, Cornish briefly updated attendees on the status of the “Ant-Man” script. Read more...

The news that actor Michael Shannon is cast as Superman's adversary Zod in Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot flick "Man of Steel" has hit fandom just as strong as the characters pummeled each other in their first on-screen meeting in 1980's "Superman II."
Earlier today, we asked whether you thought Zod was the best choice for the central villain in the "Superman" reboot, and today's news warrants a broader look at the character and the actors who have played him.
Zod, or "General Zod" as he's more commonly called, was a military leader on Superman's home world of Krypton. Although Superman thought himself the last survivor when the planet exploded, Zod escaped disaster because he was imprisoned in The Phantom Zone for crimes he committed while leading Krypton's military forces. After Darren Aronofsky departed the director's chair of "The Wolverine" last month, rumors have been rampant as to who could replace the award-winning director for Logan's second outing. And it looks like one of the directors in the running is "The Source Code" filmmaker Duncan Jones.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, the up-and-coming director revealed that he is in talks with -- or is planning to talk to -- the "Wolverine" studio in the coming days.
"Who knows what'll be coming up next - I have a lot of meetings and catching-up to do when I get back to LA," explained the director, who later confirmed that one would be with 20th Century Fox about "The Wolverine." Read more...

As “The Dark Knight Rises” rounds out its cast, roles of newly added characters grow smaller. But however much screen time he may end up filling, the latest addition out of the Batman camp poses to piece together more about the film’s story.
You may not know Josh Pence by name (or by face, for that matter) but chances are, you know his body.
The actor, who was digitally superimposed with Armie Hammer’s visage to portray one half of the Winklevoss twins in “The Social Network,” has been cast as young Ra’s Al Ghul within Christopher Nolan’s final film featuring the Caped Crusader. Read more...

Tweets out of Mark Millar's first ever Kapow Comic Con in London over the weekend proved to be mostly positive. For those of us grounded in North America, however, Jock kindly posted a pic from the show, showing a lineup of creators that were about as top notch as they come.
This morning's feed brought in a great haul of artwork, too, including a "fast digital sketch" of Cosmic Boy from Yildiray Cinar that puts many a published cover to shame and a Hermione Granger from Wes Molebash. Those retweets and reactions to "Breaking In" and "Super" make up the day's highlight reel after the jump, so dig in!

The "Superman" reboot has its villain, and he's a familiar name to comics fans. Warner Bros. announced this weekend that actor Michael Shannon will play General Zod in Zack Snyder's upcoming film.
But is he the right baddie for Superman's return to the big screen?
Some have argued that a match-up between the Man of Steel and another Kryptonian might be better served in a subsequent film rather than the project intended to re-establish the character in movie-goers' minds. Others have argued that a brawl with Zod could provide the much-needed action that was missing from 2006's "Superman Returns." Read more...

Pretty much the minute that "Cowboys & Aliens" was announced, people have been intrigued — and that was before fan-favorites Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Jon Favreau were announced as the film's stars and director.
When MTV News caught up with Favreau recently during a lengthy chat at WonderCon, we asked him if, given the film's genre-blending, he'd considered involving another icon of the Western genre: one Clint Eastwood.
"He's definitely somebody we would have been very appreciative to work with. He's iconic," Favreau said. "For this genre, Harrison felt like the right guy because he's still vital and exciting enough that he can jump on a horse, ride into battle, but he's also a different generation than Daniel."
