X-Men: first ClassWe've seen quite a few "X-Men: First Class" trailers and images hit the 'net lately, with a new international trailer and a shot of Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique the most recent of the bunch. Now, another trailer has found its way online, and while it doesn't offer much in the way of new footage, there is one notable addition: a brief glimpse of Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, offering what could be the first look at how the character's mutant abilities will manifest themselves in the film.

Posted on Marvel's official YouTube page, the new international trailer recycles most of the existing trailer footage, but adds the aforementioned shot of Sebastian Shaw around the 1:02 mark.

In the scene, a dapper-looking Shaw appears aboard a boat, with a tropical beach in the background, holding a golden, orb-shaped device in his hand. A second later, there's an explosion, and Shaw's hands — which look to have either multiplied or be in such fast motion that he appears to have more than two hands — are seen compressing the fiery mass. Game of ThronesAs if there were any doubt, "Game of Thrones" has a officially taken on the role of the most talked about Sunday night TV show for the moment, at least among the 500 or so comics folks on the Twitter Report follow list. Last night's episode "The Kingsroad" seems to have convinced Ron Marz and Phil Hester to keep watching. Jon Favreau, meanwhile, just loves the credit sequence.

In real-world royal topics, Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton's showing up everywhere you don't want to read about it. Edgar Wright's worried about what leaving his homeland during the festivities will mean. His thoughts and Rob Williams' new name for Karen Gillan's "Doctor Who" character await you after the jump.

Joss WhedonWe recently reported that “The Avengers” would start filming on Monday, April 25, and now we have some official confirmation. Director Joss Whedon took it upon himself to write a rather entertaining letter to fans to let everyone know what was going on.

Posted yesterday at Whedonesque, Whedon's message confirms this week's start date and jokes about Marvel's notoriously tight security regarding the upcoming superhero team-up film.

You can read the full text of his message below — which is pretty priceless, in true Joss Whedon fashion. Read More...

Tom Hiddleston - Thor"Thor" actor Tom Hiddleston has often expressed his enjoyment of playing trickster god Loki, but longtime readers might remember that his name was originally mentioned for a different role: the god of thunder himself.

Speaking to The Guardian, Hiddleston said of almost playing Thor, "I got down to the final five, which also included Chris [Hemsworth]'s younger brother Liam Hemsworth, Alexander Skarsgård, Charlie Hunnam and another Swedish actor. I've inherited my father's lean Glaswegian genes, but I managed to put on three and a half stone in lean muscle.” Read More...

Back in December, some "Amazing Spider-Man" set photos gave us a glimpse of a very dour looking Emma Stone in character as Gwen Stacy in the midst of what looked to be a police funeral. The pics had savvy fans wondering if we were possibly getting a sneak peek at the funeral of Gwen's father, George, given that Captain Stacy dies in the midst of a high-flying tussle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus in the comics.

As far as we know, Doc Ock doesn't factor into Sony's reboot of the storied franchise, but there was still speculation: did these photos suggest George Stacy dies in the film? That's the question we put recently to Denis Leary, who plays Stacy — and his answer could merit a SPOILER ALERT. You've been warned!

"I'm not allowed to say anything about the ending of 'Spider-Man' — or the ending of 'Rescue Me,' " he told us at the opening festivities for the Tribeca Film festival. "It's verboten! I can't tell you!" Read More...

The new season of "Doctor Who" is almost upon us, and that means more adventures with The Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory.

Of course, with Amy and Rory tying the knot before jumping back into action with The Doctor, there's a brand new relationship dynamic at work inside the TARDIS. How will it play out as they travel through space and time fighting alien menaces? Well, that's exactly what we asked Amy herself, actress Karen Gillan, during a break in "Doctor Who" filming.

"Amy's relationship with The Doctor is going to have a few ups and downs and changes in this new series, particularly because Rory's on board," Gillan told MTV News. "It adds a whole new dimension to it. I think having him on the TARDIS really emphasizes the relationship [between Amy and The Doctor] and makes it slightly clearer." Read More...

Green LanternEarlier today, when we posted the extended trailer for "Green Lantern" that's been making the rounds on television, I mentioned how great it was to see a little more of Tomar-Re and Kilowog. Now it looks like we could be getting even more of the former, courtesy of a new "Green Lantern" poster that puts the spotlight on the finned alien from Xudar.

Debuting over at Yahoo Movies, the "Green Lantern" poster has Tomar-Re front and center, arm cocked back back and ring ready.

And while Tomar-Re has received a bit of a makeover for the live-action movie, it looks much of his character's comic book history with Hal Jordan could be making a faithful leap to the big screen. Read More...

The new season of "Doctor Who" begins this weekend, offering up a whole new set of adventures with The Doctor and his companions. And while the new season will see a host of familiar faces returning to the long-running series, there's one big element that sets Season Six (or Season 32, if you want to get technical) apart from past seasons.

For the first time ever, the "Doctor Who" cast and crew made a trek across the ocean to film in the U.S. — specifically, the picturesque Monument Valley, Utah. In the following exclusive video, "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith explains why it made sense to film in America, and which city he'd like to see The Doctor end up in next time he ends up on this side of the pond.

"Having those locations adds to the epic and grand scale of 'Doctor Who' and is something we're very proud to have achieved," Smith told MTV News. "And it fits in because we're in America in the 1960s [in the episode]." Read More...

Little ThorChris Hemsworth isn’t the only actor who can don Thor's armor. In a new Marvel spoof of the famous Volkswagen commercial, a pint-sized god of thunder tries to call down the lightning with limited success — until the very end of the ad, of course.

In the Marvel-made clip, Little Thor even gets his own background music — “Ride of the Valkyries” by Richard Wagner. Still, his antics with a toy Mjolnir aren’t able to impress his dog, his mom, or even the doll.

But all that changes when his dad drives up in a spiffy new car. Read More...
