Cowboys & AliensThe new trailer for "Cowboys & Aliens" debuted last night, and while there's not a lot of new footage to be found in it, we did get a few choice tidbits to whet our appetites for the upcoming sci-fi western mash-up.

Currently available on iTunes, the new trailer offers a bit more info on the plot of the film and Daniel Craig's character, as well as a quick tease of the aliens. There's also an interesting shot that hints at the fate of the locals once they're whipped into the air and captured by the aliens.

Oh, and there's more footage of Olivia Wilde — which is always appreciated around Splash Page HQ. Read More...

The Dark Knight ReturnsThere have been rumblings for years about a potential adaptation of Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns," but a new rumor suggests that we're closer than ever to seeing the project happen — only as an animated movie instead of a live-action film.

According to Bleeding Cool, anonymous sources have indicated that an animated "The Dark Knight Returns" is not only planned, but work is already underway on bringing the story of Batman in his twilight years to the screen. The site reports that "The Dark Knight Returns" movie will likely mimic the original artistic style of its source material, much like this year's "All-Star Superman" movie.

Before you get too excited, however, keep in mind that everything related to the project is entirely unofficial at this point — and there's no guarantee that we'll see such such a film. Read More...

WantedBy Jenni Miller

"Wanted" fans have been clamoring for a sequel since we first saw Angelina Jolie snatch James McAvoy up for the car ride of his life. However, despite story developments that would make it rather difficult for at least one character to return in a sequel, the film plays pretty fast and loose with the comic book source material — enough so that a sequel could be possible, or at least that's what "Wanted" writer Mark Millar has been teasing us with for a few years.

In any case, McAvoy can't escape questions about the possibility, even during interviews for "X-Men: First Class."

"I don't know what's happening," the Scottish actor told IGN. "I know that the script came out a while back which I don't think they were happy with in the end." Read More...

Doctor WhoThe season premiere of "Doctor Who" is nearly upon us, and that means BBC America is pulling out all the stops to get Whovians and fans-in-the-making excited for Matt Smith's return as The Eleventh Doctor.

Earlier this week, we brought you a spoiler-free list of highlights from the two-part premiere episode, which screened early at a well-attended evening event attended by much of the "Doctor Who" cast and creative team. However, the run-up to the official premiere on April 23 has been accompanied online with a host of new clips, promotional images, and even a "Doctor Who"-friendly widget or two.

I've collected some of the clips and images below, but the spoiler-sensitive should take note: there are some items here which might be better left unseen before their in-episode debut — specifically, the creepy new aliens known as The Silence. Read More...

Mark RuffaloThe Incredible Hulk is an iconic character, but he could look a little different when Joss Whedon brings “The Avengers” to the big screen. According to Mark Ruffalo, who will be playing the Hulk in Marvel's superhero team-up film, the green goliath will actually look quite a bit like, well... him.

"No one has asked me to shave my chest yet, thank God,” Ruffalo told The Advocate. “They want this Hulk to be as close to me as possible.”

Back in February, Ruffalo revealed to MTV News that the balance between his screen time as Bruce Banner and his CGI-enhanced alter ego will be "about equal." Read More...

Angry BirdsUnhappy with the advertisements that have been showing up while you play "Angry Birds"? It sounds like you have a friend in Nathan Fillion, as he's been writing out some formal tweets to the game's makers complaining about what's been appearing on his screen.

Andy Diggle voiced some concerns as well today, listing off things he can't do in mainstream comics that leave him bewildered. Ryan Kelly's Death sketch, meanwhile, will not leave you bewildered, because it is gorgeous. The Instagram link to that and Foo Fighters and "American Idol" criticism all made the Twitter highlight reel today and await you after the jump.

Diane LaneThe plot of the Superman reboot “Man of Steel” is being kept super-secret, but actress Diane Lane, who will play Clark Kent’s mom, recently revealed a little bit more about the much-anticipated film.

Discussing how much of the superhero’s life will be covered in the film, she said it wasn't going to be a movie that only shows him for a short period of time.

Speaking to E! Online, Lane said, “I'm really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on." Read More...

Captain AmericaLate last month, I spoke to "Captain America: The First Avenger" screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely about the just-released trailer for the Marvel movie. Our conversation ended up covering a wide range of subjects, including their own take on the film's first full-length trailer and the source material that inspired their script. Heck, the name "M.O.D.O.K." even got dropped...

Now that WonderCon is in the rearview mirror and the news wire seems to have calmed down a bit, I finally had a chance to revisit that interview and run the final few segments. In the following portion of my chat with Markus and McFeely, they discussed their work on the "Captain America" sequel and how they managed the need for Marvel movie-verse continuity with this and future projects. Like some of the other comic book movies hitting theaters this year, the marketing machine for "X-Men: First Class" has traveled a bumpy road en route to the film's upcoming release. Much of the promotional imagery for the film has received a mixed response, though the first "X-Men: First Class" trailer seemed to win over quite a few skeptics.

Possibly the most derided of the film's promotional efforts was a pair of posters released in March that depicted the faces of stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender eerily staring out from the silhouettes of their characters from the previous "X-Men" films, Professor X and Magneto. When MTV News caught up with McAvoy at the press junket for his new film "The Conspirator," we asked him about the posters.

"I have no idea," McAvoy told MTV News when asked what's going on in the bizarre posters. Read More...

Mary Jane ComicAttention all attractive young red-headed gals who don’t already feel lucky: if this recently (and stealthily) released casting call is what it seems, you may have a chance at taking home the jackpot—in the form of potentially portraying comic book icon Mary Jane Watson.

Caught by SuperHeroHype, the just-released casting call falls under “Fiona’s Tale,” or the secret title assigned to all things “Amazing Spider-Man.”

Wondering why a character as high-profile as Mary Jane would be solicited via a cattle-call of scarlet haired amateurs? Well, while MJ may be a marquee-gracing name, the required role—at least in this film—is not exactly a speaking part. Read More...
