There’s been talk about a potential “Power Man” movie for a while now, and “Thor” actor Idris Elba wants to make sure he gets a chance at playing the Marvel hero if the opportunity ever arises.
As reported by SuperHeroHype, Elba was at a “Thor” press conference (he plays the Norse god Heimdall in the new film) when he was asked if there were any other Marvel icons he’d like to play.
“I'd like a stab at Luke Cage,” the actor replied.
While Elba has impressive credentials as an actor, he has some competition for the role. Old Spice commercial actor Isaiah Mustafa has likewise expressed his interest in becoming Luke Cage, and even met with Marvel about it. Jamie Foxx and Tyrese Gibson have also had their names dropped (by themselves and others) as real possibilities.
There may also be more than one Luke Cage role opening up, as there’s the possibility of the character showing up in the television series “A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” which is currently in development.
