“Thor” has its official U.S. premiere this weekend, but given all the praise its received in early reviews, it makes sense to ask about a potential sequel.
When MTV News sat down with "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh, we asked about the possibility of bringing “Thor” back to the screen again for a post-"Avengers" follow-up.
“We went through so many possibilities for how the story might go, that of course the prospect of that is very tantalizing and fascinating,” Branagh said about the notion of a "Thor" sequel.
Still, he knows not to jump to any conclusions about the film before it makes its official debut.
“You know as well as I do, there’s a passionate fan base out there that will say what they think,”
he said. “People will vote with their feet. And because it’s such a big chunk of change for everybody involved, I think that’s going to have a crucial, crucial impact.”
But if it’s up to him, he would love to get back behind the cameras.
“It would be a lovely challenge and problem to have should we do a second one,” he said.
“When I first got involved with this, I was so thrilled. The first big, really exciting moment when I started really going through the comic books was all the descriptions of powers," he explained. "I loved it. Amazing. People’s body weights, how tall they were, what they could do. All of that kind of stuff. There’s a vast amount of that from the Thor universe that I’d like to see.”
