A trio of comics-inspired television projects were the subject of headlines today, and little of the news was good.
According to Deadline, Fox has decided not to pick up the pilot for "Locke & Key," a planned miniseries based on IDW Publishing's popular comic. While there's still a chance that another network could step in to take ownership of the project, fans should probably temper their expectations at this point. (We're keeping our fingers crossed here at Splash Page HQ.)
Fox wasn't done with the bad news, though, as the network also announced the cancellation of "Human Target."
Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series of the same name, "Human Target" had a well-received first season on Fox, but a lackluster second season had many fans expecting bad news. Deadline confirmed the show's termination this week.
Finally, on a somewhat brighter — though entirely unconfirmed — note, TVbytheNumbers reports that NBC has picked up "Wonder Woman" for a full series order. There's been no shortage of criticism heaped on the network's reboot of the DC superheroine's series, so apparently NBC execs saw something we didn't in the project. (Once again, we're keeping our fingers crossed.)
Keep it locked to MTV Splash Page for more on all of these projects as news develops.
