The casting news for "The Dark Knight Rises" continues to develop this week, with two more actors joining the cast of the much-anticipated third — and final — installment of Christopher Nolan's gritty Batman franchise.
According to Variety, actors Brett Cullen (pictured) and Chris Ellis have been added to the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises." The report indicates that Cullen and Ellis will play a judge and a priest, respectively.
"Lost" fans will likely remember Cullen as Goodwin Stanhope, one of the mysterious Others that the survivors of Oceanic Flight 813 encounter early in the series. He also played Johnny Blaze's father, stunt rider Barton Blaze, in the 2007 film "Ghost Rider."
As for Ellis, he played Admiral Brigham in "Transformers" and has appeared in a long list of other genre film and television projects, including "Planet of the Apes" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," among others.
The pair join recently announced cast members Matthew Modine, Tom Conti and Joey King, as well as a long list of returning cast members including Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine. Cullen will also reunite with another "Lost" actor, Nestor Carbonell, who played Richard Alpert on the television series and will return to the film franchise as Gotham's mayor, Anthony Garcia.
The film will also feature new addition Tom Hardy as Bane, as well as Anne Hathaway as Selina "Catwoman" Kyle, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
As for who the judge and priest could be in the film, that's still up in the air. Given how many new characters Nolan appears to be adding to the Batman universe in this last installment, there's a good chance Cullen and Ellis' roles might be unfamiliar to comic fans. However, there's also a good chance that the reason the roles haven't been announced is because it would reveal too much about the film's plot.
So... anyone want to venture a guess about the judge and priest we'll see these actors playing?
