PowersBad movie jokes about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's separation were easy to find in the feed this morning. When you dedicate your career to outrageous action movies full of clever one-liners, these things tend to happen, so hopefully they're taking the jabs in stride.

The comic book movies world got a great update from Brian Michael Bendis, though. Apparently he's been watching tapes of potential "Powers" actors. Now, he just needs to tell us a little more about the surprises he mentioned. Place your bets after the jump, where we've got more "Source Code" and "Thor" reviews.

Charles S. DuttonIt’s time to hire all the right actors for the television adaptation of “Powers” — which is no small task, given the series' loyal readership. First to be cast is the role of Captain Cross.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Charles S. Dutton will play Captain Cross, the boss of detective leads Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. Dutton starred in the 1991-1994 television series “Roc,” but has also been on Broadway and in such films as “Cry, the Beloved Country” and “A Time to Kill.”

ThorIt’s been a long journey for Marvel Comics’ Thor from the four-color pages of his origin to the big screen, but what’s nearly 50 years to an immortal God of Thunder anyway?

This weekend, "Thor" hit theaters nationwide, and because it's part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, the comics that inspired it aren’t drawn upon just for passing references or surface similarities, but instead are woven throughout the film and form the basis of its story.

With that in mind, we took an in-depth, scene-by-scene look at the film, and examined exactly which classic stories played a role in making this latest comic book film epic. We've done the research so you don't have to, and you can consider this your unofficial guide to the source material that inspired Thor's big-screen debut.

Oh, and if you haven't seen the film yet, you might want to stop reading right now. This gets into MAJOR SPOILER TERRITORY. You've been warned! Read More...

Martin SheenIt’ll be about a year before “The Amazing Spider-Man” hits theaters, but some of the actors involved are happy to talk about Spidey's return to the big screen. Veteran actor Martin Sheen has been cast to play Ben Parker, Peter's beloved uncle and surrogate father, and he opened up about his role and the new Spider-Man actor.

“I’m not in any of the scenes where he’s Spider-man,” Sheen told UK website HeyUGuys. “He’s still a little boy. He’s a teenager when it starts. I’m a surrogate father really, I’m his uncle.”

“I’m dealing with this adolescent who is having problems with changes, with hormones changing and his getting out of hand," he added. "I have to give him the marching orders and so forth. It’s all very normal. And the guy playing him is wonderful.” Read More...

WolverineThe latest pirate-laden "Doctor Who" installment, "The Curse of the Black Spot," got Twitter talking over the weekend. Both Gabriel Hardman and Chris Weston thought it needed a little something more, but Weston's hopeful for Neil Gaiman's upcoming episode.

In image tweeting last night, Jim Lee decided to make all other Wolverine artists feel irrelevant by sharing his takes on Logan throughout the ages. All you need to do is look at the one he made when he was 13 to realize this guy was destined for great things. That masterpiece, as well as Lakers loss reactions and the Steve Niles confession you never expected to read await after the jump.

"Thor" called down the thunder this weekend, winning the box office with a $66 million haul and kicking off a summer movie season full of comics-friendly blockbusters. And while we don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't seen the film yet, it's about time to start looking ahead to future installments of Marvel's rapidly evolving cinematic universe.

When MTV News spoke to "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh, we asked him about Loki's open-ended finale in the film, and the recent news from Marvel that the character — and the actor who plays him, Tom Hiddleston — will be back in a big way for next year's superhero team-up event, "The Avengers."

"I've been so brainwashed by Marvel into never saying anything, or trying to obfuscate when it comes to the details of the plot, I almost don't believe it myself," joked Branagh about the official confirmation of Loki's return in "The Avengers." Read More...

ThorBy Ryan J. Downey

FROM MTV MOVIES: The "god of thunder" stormed the box office over the weekend as comic book fans and other moviegoers rained $66 million upon theaters to see "Thor." The latest big-screen adaptation of a beloved Marvel Comics superhero, this one drawn from Norse mythology, kicked off the summer movie season as the #1 movie in America, according to studio estimates.

Alas, a pair of romantic comedies proved to be no match against Thor's power. "Jumping the Broom" opened at #3 with $13.7 million, while "Something Borrowed," based on Emily Giffin's best-selling novel, is in fourth place with $13.1 million. Co-starring rom-com veteran Kate Hudson, "Borrowed" was far behind the $21.1 million her "Bride Wars" took in when it opened in 2009, or the similar numbers generated by "Fool's Gold" the year before.
