Lars von TrierPre-Saturday Rapture tweets continue to be the hot thing in online discussions this week. Ben Templesmith has been weighing the pros and cons of what could happen if the world ends over the weekend. Jill Thompson, meanwhile, fears what living by a graveyard could mean, and Kieron Gillen hopes that the Rapture will be nice to listen to.

In less comfortable topics, Lars Van Trier continues to be getting all of the wrong kind of attention following some Nazi-related comments he made at a Wednesday press conference. Implications for him and reactions to calls for Ronald McDonald to step down as a mascot for his fast food chain are the big items for the day.

True BloodThe new season of "True Blood" premieres next month, but Sookie Stackhouse and the rest of the cast of the hit HBO series will be having some wild off-screen adventures, too. IDW Publishing and HBO revealed exclusively to MTV Splash Page their plans for a sequel to the best-selling "All Together Now" miniseries that first brought the series from the screen to the comics world.

Titled "True Blood: The French Quarter," the new, six-issue series hits shelves in August and will follow Sookie and vampire Eric Northman as they travel to New Orleans in order to track down a killer whom Eric and his maker, Godric, thought they killed centuries ago. With Eric and Sookie paired up, you can bet Bill Compton's not far behind, but he'll have his hands full investigating a local Hep-D outbreak. Pam and Lafayette will also play big roles in the series, according to the publisher.

You can get your first look at artist Joe Corroney's cover for "True Blood: The French Quarter" below, as well as more details about the upcoming series. Read more...

Hayley AtwellCaptain America: The First Avenger” may be the story of Steve Rogers, but it wouldn’t be the same without Peggy Carter in it. Actress, Hayley Atwell is opening up about her strong-willed character who remains at odds with a male-dominated society.

“I think she's quite stubborn, a slightly frustrated woman who struggles with being a woman in that time,” Atwell told the Belfast Telegraph. “But more importantly she's a modern woman and she sees something in Captain America that she relates to, and becomes kindred spirits.”

“He treats her very differently to how she's been treated by lots of men, in this kind of dominated world she lives in,” she went on. “So she's very much a fighter." Read more...

BridesmaidsThe comics community saw an outpouring of condolences today as news broke that fantasy illustrator and painter Jeffrey Catherine Jones passed away at the age of 67. Billy Tucci, Jock, J.M. DeMatteis and Ron Marz were among those tweeting about her legacy, and there are scores of similar posts where those came from.

In lighter thoughts, Edgar Wright caught "Bridesmaids," and he had good things to say about both the film and Kristen Wiig. With any luck, the rumored upcoming Rapture will hold off long enough that they can eventually work together. Some speculators have pegged the event for Saturday. Brian Lynch, meanwhile, thinks it will inspire a new mega-crossover.

We weren't alone in celebrating the choice of actor Michael Clarke Duncan as the voice of Kilwog, the alien drill sergeant who trains Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern." His signature voice — deeper than a bottomless well, it seems — felt like the perfect choice for the ol' poozer from Bolovax Vik.

While the latest "Green Lantern" trailer went a long way toward showing us why he's the right choice, we took it to the man himself when we caught him at a recent press event.

"I was a fan of Green Lantern a long time ago, so it was very easy for me to go in there and voice Kilowog," Duncan told MTV News. Read more...

Nicholas HoultX-Men: First Class” will be out in just a few weeks, and Nicholas Hoult, who plays Beast (a.k.a. Hank McCoy) is saying more — a lot more — about his character's arc in the "X-Men" prequel. Consider this your SPOILER WARNING, folks!

“He's a good guy, but it's hard work. He's a great scientist though and he comes up with all of these inventions that sometimes work and sometimes don't,” he told IGN. “He tries out a serum from Mystique's DNA to try and stop his feet from appearing apelike and massive, so he can fit in, because he's very self-conscious about it."

"Unfortunately that goes wrong and he becomes the Beast that we know from the other films and cartoons and comics," he revealed. Read more...

L.A. NoireThe Twitter hive mind overflowed with knowledge and tasty trivia bits this morning. For starters, Jon Favreau got a look at Damon Lindelof's "Lost" hatch turned coffee table. He didn't post a picture, but a quick Google search turned up a blogger who did photograph the famous prop.

In gaming, "L.A. Noire" turned out to be the big topic of the week. Kieron Gillen's been trying to get "Witcher 2" to load, though. We wish him luck.

Find out who wants to see a different noire game, who's defending the new Tintin teaser and why Mike Norton hates Daleks down below.
