More and more comics are headed to the big screen these days, and it looks as if “The Mighty” may soon join the list. The DC Comics graphic novel is now in the limelight as a possible feature film.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has acquired “The Mighty,” but the site cautioned that the deal isn’t 100% confirmed at this point.
First published by DC in 2009, "The Mighty" tells a story in which the super-powered character is a villain and the hero is just a regular guy.
Written by Keith Champagne and Peter Tomasi, and illustrated by Peter Snejbjerg, "The Mighty" was reportedly pitched with the following synopsis:
The Mighty tells the story of Alpha-One, the world's most powerful super-being, who has always been a force for good, but Gabriel Cole, a cop who's life was saved by Alpha One as a child, has uncovered his hero's dark plan that will put them on a collision course of an ordinary man versus a super-man.
Normally all DC Comics projects go to Warner Bros. to be made into films, but that doesn’t have to be the case this time, since the creators — and not the publishing company — hold the rights to the series. That means that the project going to Paramount could be a real possibility.
