"X-Men: First Class" hits theaters this weekend, introducing a new group of Marvel mutants to the live-action "X-Men" universe. While you're probably familiar with the heavy-hitters of the mutant world like Professor X and Magneto, there are one or two members of this teenage team that might require an introduction.
In order to bring everyone up to speed, MTV News asked the "X-Men: First Class" cast to explain their characters' powers and place in the live-action X-Men movie universe.
"Professor Charles Xavier when we meet him is actually Dr. Charles Xavier but he becomes a professor during the course of the movie," revealed James McAvoy.
"My power is to be able to absorb energy and harness it and throw it back at whoever is trying to use that energy against me," explained Kevin Bacon of his character, the head of the Hellfire Club, Sebastian Shaw.
"I play Angel Salvadore, who is a go-go dancer that is recruited by Magneto and Professor X to be part of the first X-Men," said Zoe Kravitz of her character's role in the film. "She has these insect wings that appear on her back in tattoo form and they peel off and become real wings."
"I play Alex Summers, who is known as Havok," said Lucas Till. "He can shoot plasma beams out of his body, and historically, [he] could never control it. He's a liability, which kind of separates him from the pack."
Check out the video above to hear more of what they had to say about their characters, and get the scoop on a few other "X-Men: First Class" mutants (and one non-mutant) from the actors who play them.
