"Cowboys & Aliens" might have Jon Favreau's name on the billing as director, but the movie certainly has other strong filmmaker's influences on it as well.
When MTV News caught up with Favreau at the "Cowboys & Aliens" junket in Montana, he said that he gained a lot of the inspiration for the creatures in the movie from the alien films he loved as a kid. So if you see some "Alien," "Aliens" and "Predator" references in the creature design, then don't be alarmed.
All the effort was spent in the attempt to not make "Cowboys & Aliens" feel like a one-joke movie. Favreau said he wanted to make sure that the approach they took on the flick worked for its entirety, which meant figuring out what type of alien movie they wanted to make and what type of cowboy movie.

So, the "Avengers" teaser is officially online, though it's only a tease of a teaser, and you've got to spoil the ending of "Captain America" for yourself in order to see it (assuming you haven't seen "The First Avenger" yet, that is). You could always skip to the teaser's 34 second mark to get straight to the footage from Joss Whedon's superhero flick, but even then, you'll have to pause a lot to get a good look at Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Well, we're saving you the trouble: we've hit that pause button numerous times and taken photos of Nick Fury's assembled group of heroes for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

"Cowboys & Aliens," the big-budget blockbuster film starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, hits theaters today. Many fans are likely aware that the film has been billed as based on a graphic novel, like so many other recent blockbusters. But what they may not be aware of is just how tangled and torturous a path it was for "Cowboys & Aliens" to reach the big-screen, and how very different its origins are from other comic book films.
To shed some light on that, we're taking a look at the trail this property blazed all the way to the Wild West of Hollywood.

Since beginning filming in mid-May, Christopher Nolan has taken his “Dark Knight Rises” production to both India and the United Kingdom. But now the third part of the director’s Batman trilogy has come stateside, settling in for a three-week stint in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“The Dark Knight Rises” will be shooting in Pittsburgh five days a week until August 21, when the production will move on to additional locations. Though Nolan and star Christian Bale were characteristically tightlipped about the film, they did take time to praise The Steel City, as reported by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Basically, you had two options if you wanted to experience "Cowboys and Aliens" last night. You could have A) found a screening to attend somewhere or B) just followed David Malki's tweets. He apparently got stuck in traffic, missing a screening, and decided to live tweet what he assumed to be happening in the film. The whole thing was too long to fit into the Report today, but you should follow the link on over to his feed and read it.
There were a few fun work tweets in the mix this morning as well. Len Wein had too much fun writing a "Ben 10" script, while Leinil Yu was force to censor his own language after receiving a script from Mark Millar.

Looking for some reasons to go check out "Cowboys & Aliens" in theaters this weekend? Well, lucky for you, leading lady Olivia Wilde has a whole slew of them at the ready just for this moment.
MTV News caught up with the actress at the Montana junket for "Cowboys & Aliens" and asked her why she thinks her flick is the must-see summer blockbuster this season. Her answer? Because the cast is awesome and the story is original.
"We have so many amazing people," Wilde said. "We have Daniel Craig who's, I think, embodying Steve McQueen in this role. I think he's so badass it's unbelievable, and I think he's really, really smart and interesting in this role."

Kevin Bacon chewed on an extraordinary amount of scenery in "X-Men: First Class" this summer, and thankfully for all of us, it looks as though he's far from finished with the comic book scene.
According to Variety, Bacon's once again setting his sights on the paneled page with the developing adaptation of "R.I.P.D.," the Dark Horse project that stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as a pair of mismatched police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department, a task force that consists of deceased cops.

A few things you should note before moving forward. Yes, an "Avengers" trailer has found its way online. But it's not the full trailer that was shown after the credits of "Captain America: The First Avenger" — this is just a tease of the teaser.
Furthermore, in order to see this "Avengers" trailer, you have to sit through the final scene of "Captain America." So if you haven't seen "Cap" yet, you'll need to cross some spoiler-filled waters to get to Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Unless you just want to jump to the 34 second mark; that's an option, too!

"Cowboys & Aliens" gallops into theaters this weekend chased by an armada of gold seeking monsters from space. On the surface, all the ingredients are in place for an all-out wall-to-wall actioner for the books: the director of "Iron Man," the stars of "James Bond" and "Indiana Jones," and a seemingly impossible mash-up of genres. Nothing could possibly go wrong there, right?
Make no mistake, there's a lot to juggle in "Cowboys," and Jon Favreau's task is not an enviable one — so how did he hold up under the pressure? Your mileage may vary, but for this movies writer, I walked away quite pleased with the wild, wild west's suddenly slick space-born sheen.
Check out five reasons you should see "Cowboys" past the jump!

This weekend sees the theatrical release of “Cowboys & Aliens,” in which action-adventure legend Harrison Ford gets back into the saddle as the hard nosed Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde. The star of the original “Star Wars” trilogy and the “Indiana Jones” series recently spoke with MTV News about his character’s wardrobe, and a specific piece of neckwear in particular.
“We don’t call it an ascot, we call it a scarf,” the actor explained. “They were a common feature of a cattleman’s wardrobe, because they could be used to cover your face in a dust storm, or mop your brow or tie around your neck to absorb sweat.”
