San Diego Comic-Con is just around the corner, and we all want to know what to expect. Marvel Studios has already said that they won't have a Hall H panel presence this year, but that doesn't mean we won't see some of Earth's Mightiest Heroes -- say, “Captain America” and “The Avengers” -- at the show in another capacity.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, while there won’t be a panel for “Captain America,” a military salute starring Chris Evans is being planned. Evans would be backed by soldiers and, as long as he’s there, odds are he’d also sign autographs at the Marvel booth.
Additionally, with “Captain America: The First Avenger” opening while Comic-Con is in full swing, there are even rumors of screenings. Paramount declined to comment when THR asked for more details.
Then there’s the issue of “The Avengers,” which is filming now. First Showing relays rumors that the superhero-filled movie will be using viral techniques to get the word out.
Apparently, if the rumors are true (and we can’t guarantee they are), Marvel will be using S.H.I.E.L.D. In other words, they’ll have pieces from the set and fake S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel around the convention to help promote the movie, not unlike what we saw at WonderCon this year.
That's the long version. The short story? It sounds as if Marvel Studios might be more involved in Comic-Con than anyone originally thought.
