Captain PlanetIt's been a good 15 years since "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" finished its original run on TBS. And when it's finally rebooted and turned into a live action Hollywood adventure -- something that's reportedly in progress right now -- we hope against all hopes that it looks something like this.

That's right... here comes Don Cheadle as Captain Planet, a much darker hero than the eco-friendly champion of yesteryear.

Warning: what you're about to see past the jump is decidedly not safe for work!

Walking DeadAMC is the home of some of the most respected and critically acclaimed dramas on television, including “The Walking Dead,” “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.” Now the network is considering branching out, using the success and popularity of those shows to power a series of follow-up talk shows.

New York Magazine’s Vulture blog has reported that the network has already shot a pilot episode for a talk show focusing on “The Walking Dead” and hosted by Chris Hardwick. As loyal fans of both “Singled Out” and “House of 1000 Corpses,” we’re actually completely OK with Hardwick stepping into this role, especially with Michael Davies and his Embassy Row Productions in charge of the pilot.

The Dark Knight RisesListen, we love Tom Hardy – the guy’s great in “Inception,” utterly menacing in “Bronson” and we’re really looking forward to “Warrior.” But being completely honest, we were somewhat taken aback when the average-sized British actor was cast as the hulking, monstrous Bat-villain Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Now, Hardy has responded to some of those concerns.

In an interview with CineMovie, Hardy talked about nerds like us who want a Bane that can benchpress a Buick, but pointed out that it’s just not possible to meet fan expectations for pre-existing characters.

“So many people love him,” Hardy explained. “And when you step into that role – you are going to fail. And be judged.”

DC RelaunchThe big news in comics today is the massive reboot going on over at DC. Jim Lee and Geoff Johns' "Justice League" #1 went on sale all over the country to kick it off, and the two of them have been touring New York City on the signing circuit to promote it. Lee even tweeted some photographic evidence.

Opinions on what DC's relaunched titles will accomplish varied. A couple of takes, along with Edgar Wright's "Game of Thrones" discovery and info about a "Powers" pilot cut you can't see unless you're at Brian Michael Bendis' house made the rundown today.

Jennifer LawrenceOf all the special effects in “X-Men: First Class,” one of the most impressive was the “costume” worn by Jennifer Lawrence as the blue-skinned mutant Mystique. But a lot more went into the look than just getting covered in blue paint, as seen in a new behind-the-scenes video.

Every morning, on her way to transforming into the indigo-hued shapeshifter, Lawrence was subjected to seven hours of extensive make-up work that involved a very thin sheet of blue and heinous amounts of airbrushing. Lawrence had to stand completely still while six different make-up artists went to work on her – and that’s all before she stepped on set to begin her day’s work.

The Avengers aren't assembling on screen for a good little while yet, but Earth's Mightiest Heroes aren't shying away from the spotlight altogether.

We've already seen promotional art for the Marvel Studios blockbuster, and today brings two more pieces of art courtesy of SpiderMedia (via Superhero Hype): one (above) that showcases the superhero team's all-star roster, and another (after the jump) pegged squarely on their Asgardian nemesis Loki.

RIPDEven though Hurricane Irene was battering the entire East Coast this weekend, Boston Red Sox fans would absolutely not be deterred from taking in a home game at Fenway Park. Also braving the foul weather at the baseball stadium? Early filming for “R.I.P.D.”!

Though the production has long been planned to start filming in Boston, the news that some was already underway came courtesy of the good folks at Collider. One of the site’s viewers was at Fenway Park this weekend and managed to grab a short video of “R.I.P.D.” actors James Hong and Marisa Miller.

The GoonWorld news, TV events and movies took a back seat in Comics Twitterverse discussions this morning, thanks to Wacom's new Inkling device that keeps track of paper doodles and transfers them to digital files. It was definitely the hot topic of the last few hours.

As of posting time, however, Chris Samnee was beginning to make some waves as well (congratulations to him, by the way!).

Meanwhile, the most movie-relevant comment of the day came from Eric Powell. For those of you still itching with excitement about the "Goon" movie, it sounds like you've still got plenty of waiting left to do. His quick update and more made the retweet list down below.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 30, 2011.

The Dark Knight RisesA crucial part of the Batman mythos is the Batcave. Hidden underground with a secret entrance located in Wayne Manor, the Dark Knight’s hideout was rendered inaccessible in the first Christopher Nolan Bat-film, “Batman Begins,” but could possibly be making a return in “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Yesterday, Latino Review played Batman, doing some pretty solid detective work based on clues found around the internet. The most interesting among these were the fact that everyone’s favorite Welsh news source, Wales Online reported that a waterfall in Brecon Beacons was standing in as the entrance to the Batcave.

Back in “Batman Begins,” Liam Neeson’s Ra’s al Ghul burnt down Wayne Manor, which resulted in the Batcave’s entrance being blocked off and not seen during “The Dark Knight.” But according to an insider on the Welsh set, Batman’s iconic hideout will be back for the new flick.

Josh BrolinIt's official: Josh Brolin is going to the lead in Spike Lee's "Oldboy" remake.

There had been plenty of names swirling for the role, and as recently as last week it looked like Christian Bale was a major contender for the role, but now Deadline is reporting that Brolin is set for the part. That makes the "No Country For Old Men" star the first official cast member for the remake of the hit Korean revenge thriller.

Brolin just finished wrapping "Men in Black 3," and will soon begin work on "Gangster Squad." Since there's plenty still to do in pre-production for "Oldboy," the guess is that Brolin will squeeze filming "Oldboy" in before he starts on Jason Reitman's "Labor Day" next June.
