tdkrIt was a big weekend at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Christopher Nolan used the stadium to film an important scene in “The Dark Knight Rises,” and more than a few people were there, including some very famous ones.

According to multiple local reports, more than 10,000 people were in the scene, making noise for the fictional gridiron squad, the Gotham Rogues. In addition to these extras, real players from the Pittsburgh Steelers got in on the action, including Hines Ward, Willie Colon, Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, Ike Taylor, Aaron Smith, Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu, and Brett Keisel; rather than being extras in the stadium, they were extras for the Rogues. Bill Cower, a former coach of the Steelers, was also there to play the coach. Even Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl got involved.

There was also a part where Tom Hardy, playing Bane, got up and spoke to the crowd. Hypable has two videos dealing with this section. Well, the first is actually just audio, and it takes awhile before you get to hear anything. The second video, which is shorter, also has some shaky visuals.

It's simply impossible for me to write about Joss Whedon without gushing. He's just so darn likable. And brilliant. And a fellow ginger, so our bond is unbreakable there. I promise to continue gushing about him even if "The Avengers" does not meet the exceedingly high expectations set out for it (which it WILL. I have faith!).

When MTV News caught up with Whedon at Entertainment Weekly's star-studded San Diego Comic-Con party, he revealed his undying love for a certain S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and that when it comes to progress on the mountain that is the "Avengers" shoot, he is on the descent (albeit lost and missing toes, he joked).

"I'm grateful everyday to be with those guys, especially Clark Gregg. That guy, man crush! But I'm keeping it under control," Whedon said, adding of the actor's expanded screen time, "It's great, he's been weaving his way through every movie and I really get to play with him and have [him do] a lot of stuff."

Anne Hathaway CatwomanAn epic week of character reveals concludes this week with "The Dark Knight Rises" rolling out its first pic Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Her long hair may have rubbed a few people the wrong way, but Jamie McKelvie is optimistic. Chuck BB? Not so much.

In other tweets, Jim Lee sounded pleased with Henry Cavill's first public Superman still. His perspective, a defense of Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man switch-up, and a Wonder Woman TV pilot review made today's recap.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 5, 2011. Read More...

The cat is out of the bag! We have finally glimpsed Anne Hathaway as Selena Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman). Whether or not this costume is Catwoman’s final form remains to be seen; in fact, whether or not she even becomes Catwoman in the film is still a topic of debate (though we're willing to bet a week's salary she will).

Staying true to "Batman" traditions, for every new installment in the franchise we can be sure there will be new costumes, new gadgets, and new Batmobiles. Below we trace the lineage of the Catwoman’s costume through the annals of history, and give you our thoughts on which Cat takes the proverbial fish cake.

Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar (and Eartha and Lee too)
The old cat is definitely not old hat. When I look back on the Catwoman costumes of yesteryear, I am shocked and delighted by their sexy simplicity. Despite Julie Newmar’s crazy eyebrows, her classic getup of all black satin and a cute kitty cat headband turns heads. Later cats Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether eschewed eyebrows for face masks fit for a masquerade. But don’t let Meriwether’s demure looks fool you. See those kitty claws? They will slash your effin’ face off!

depp“The Vault” may have only been released earlier this week, but steps are already being made to turn it into a feature film. Yesterday Johnny Depp and Graham King announced they have purchased the rights to the sci-fi comic and are making plans to get it on the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Christi Dembrowski, Graham King and Tim Headington are set to produce. The story follows deep sea divers who discover a sarcophagus in the inky depths and accidentally free a terrible force from it.

The graphic novel will be published in three issues, and as of now only the first one has been released. It’s unknown yet whether each issue could possibly become a movie, making a trilogy, or if just one film is planned to cover all three issues.

'Thor'“Thor,” directed by Kenneth Branagh, was a big hit for Marvel and Disney this summer. Not surprisingly then, the studio is looking to copy the success of the first film with a sequel helmed by another gentlemen hailing from the British Isles and possessing more than a little experience with epic storytelling: Brian Kirk.

After a $447 million worldwide-box-office take, generated off a character nowhere near as mainstream as Spider-Man or even Iron Man, a “Thor 2” was somewhat of a foregone conclusion. But after Branagh decided not to return for the sequel, it was up in the air who would end up directing the flick.

Enter Irish director Brian Kirk, who showed, during his recent stint on “Game of Thrones,” an ability to wrangle numerous characters in period dress spouting deliciously overblown dialogue – something that should be a prerequisite for anyone working on a “Thor” movie. Kirk has also worked on “Boardwalk Empire,” “Dexter” and “Luther,” so he’s even pals with Idris Elba already.

It’s not a done deal yet, but Variety is reporting that Kirk is currently at the top of a list that includes directors like Drew Goddard, James McTeigue, Noam Murro and Breck Eisner. Whoever directs will be working from a script by Don Payne, who has previous superhero experience on both the first “Thor” movie as well as “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

What do you think about Kirk helming “Thor 2”? Has “Game of Thrones” prepared him to tackle the God of Thunder? Tell us in the comments below or on Twitter!

So far we’ve seen copious shots of both Christian Bale’s returning Batman suit, as well as what Tom Hardy will be wearing as Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises.” But one costume we’ve seen absolutely nada for has been Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman outfit…until now. Click the image below to help us pick out all the nitty gritties of your favorite burglar’s catsuit!

The Ears
Where are the ears!? If this is indeed Hathaway as Catwoman, and not just a look at her sleekly dressed alter ego, Selina Kyle, the suit has omitted the character’s signature cat ears. In fact, unless it’s just fallen down behind, the suit is also lacking the standard Catwoman cowl.

Nick FuryThough he’s appeared in both “Iron Man” movies, “Thor” and even “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been mostly relegated to small scenes and the movies’ signature post-credit “stingers.” In next summer’s “Avengers,” however, the actor will be playing a much larger role.

Speaking with BBC Newsbeat, Jackson spoke about how his heavily-guarded script for the movie was stolen and also about Fury’s increased screen presence this time around.

“I’m actually doing more than I’ve done in any of the other films,” the actor admitted. “You don’t have to wait until the end of the movie to see me. I’m actually around the whole movie and I do a lot more. I have action scenes and I actually do things to people in this movie.”

There’s no bad blood (just mutant blood) between Patrick Stewart and his young replacements in the summer blockbuster "X-Men: First Class." Stewart, who has played Professor Charles Francis Xavier (or just Professor X) in every other "X-Men" film, insists that while he hasn’t sat down to watch it, he’s certainly not holding any sort of grudge.

“I haven’t seen it,” Stewart told MTV News during a recent interview, “I haven’t been to the movies in over nine months. Believe me, and no one will believe this, especially I think James [McAvoy], there’s nothing personal about this.”

McAvoy took over the role of the wheelchair-bound Professor Xavier in "First Class" to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. “This is because I’ve been in the theater working all the time,” he clarified, “I’m not able to see movies.”

With the enormous wealth of "Dark Knight Rises" set photos pouring in, most of them focusing on the vicious Bane and a possibly equally ruthless you-know-who, fans have been left to scratch their heads over one question… just where in the heck is our first look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle?

Check out our photo analysis of Hathaway's Catwoman.

Well wonder no more: here's the first official production still of Hathaway dressed to the nines for Christopher Nolan's third and supposedly final Batman film! While it's a little bit late to the dance, this first look at Selina Kyle answers some questions and raises a few others.
