Earlier today, you got your first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel." It's just one little glimpse at the director's Superman reboot in the grand scheme of things, but actually, there's a lot to dissect in this first official photo. Click the image below and read on to examine the new Superman even further!

The Texture
Just like his friendly neighborhood superhero rival across the aisle in "The Amazing Spider-Man," the famous DC Comics icon is going for a more ridged look in his latest costume than what we're used to. Gone is the sleek and bright red and blues, replaced by darker shades and a texture that's similar to what some have referred to as the "basketball" aesthetic of Sony's Spider-Man reboot.

Greg Nicotero"The Walking Dead" suffered a serious hit last week with Frank Darabont's sudden departure, one of the big heavies working behind the scenes on AMC's survival horror series. It's not even known if Darabont will continue to work on "Walking Dead" in any capacity, even if his successor has been named.

Though Darabont was crucial to getting the show on its feet, he's not the only essential ingredient in the "Walking Dead" mix. Aside from the cast and executive producers Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd, one of the most important pillars of the "Dead" show is Greg Nicotero, the fantastic FX and makeup specialist responsible for bringing the decisively dead back to terrifying life.

For now at least, Nicotero hasn't gone anywhere — except up, that is. Bloody Disgusting reports that Nicotero will step behind the camera to direct a series of "Walking Dead" webisodes in anticipation of the show's upcoming second season.

Henry Cavill as SupermanWell, we all know what Henry Cavill looks like as Superman now, and he didn't need to change the color of Kal-El's skin to start kicking up some controversy on Twitter. Jamal Igle, David Gallaher and Mark Millar weighed in with reactions to the new Man of Steel, and sides have been taken.

Laurence Fishburne playing Perry White is still a hot topic, too, though, as is "Captain America: The First Avenger." Check out J.T. Krul's micro-review and see who's pumped for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" down below.

Anne HathawayWe've seen a lot on the Gotham City front lately, from on-set photographs of Batman versus Bane to some potentially significant "Dark Knight Rises" spoilers.

One person who's been curiously absent from the recent "Dark Knight" shenanigans, however, is Anne Hathaway, who stars in the movie as Selina Kyle. The Oscar-nominated actress (and one-time host) isn't staying completely silent, however.

In a new interview, Hathaway was somewhat more open (emphasis on somewhat) about playing Bruce Wayne's newest femme fatale. “I went after it because it was the best role and Chris was willing to meet me," Hathaway told Total Film of her reasons for joining the "Dark Knight Rises" cast, though she was reluctant to say too much more.

Superman fans, we have a new Perry White: Laurence Fishburne will play the Daily Planet chief in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel," as reported earlier today. He's the first African-American actor to step into the veteran newsman's shoes, but he's far from the first person to play the role.

Click the photo below to see our gallery of the men who've played Perry White in the past, and read on for a bit of information on each of them.

SupermanOpportunity doesn't always knock, and it's even rarer for it to knock twice. But Henry Cavill has had two shots at playing Superman, and with this second chance, he'll finally fly high as the "Man of Steel."

The actor spoke with Total Film about getting ready to headline Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, revealing that it all became very real once he finally donned the big blue boy scout's iconic uniform.

"It’s extremely cool. There’s no other feeling like it," he said of slipping into Superman's costume. "They just put it on, I turned around and look in the mirror and you can’t really play it cool – you sort of guffaw and laugh. I thought ‘OK, holy hell, this is real, it’s not a joke anymore. This is it…you’re doing it, you’re right in the middle of it.’”

Laurence FishburneNot content to see Marvel getting all of the attention yesterday over Ultimate Spider-Man's race change, the powers that be behind "The Man of Steel" outed Laurence Fishburne as their new choice to play Clark Kent's boss, Perry White.

Of course, creators are still talking about the Spider-Man decision, too. They've just widened the conversation's scope. Check out what the last day's worth of debate has looked like, what Fred Van Lente predicts will really get readers talking and what a beautiful piece of original Jock Joker artwork looks like before it gets sent off to a buyer.

FROM MTV MOVIES: Behold, the glory of Spidey Vision! Perhaps that was the reaction "Amazing Spider-Man" director Marc Webb and his team were hoping fans would have when they peeped the final 30 seconds of the Marvel flick's first trailer, a first-person romp that puts viewers in the web-slinger's sight line as he swings from buildings and scales brick walls. But not everyone was sold on the inherent grandeur of this visual effect.

Maybe it was just a tad too reminiscent of mid-'90s first-person shooter video games like "Doom," the complaint went. Maybe Spidey Vision was neither revolutionary nor simply cool enough to warrant such lengthy and climactic placement in the trailer.

The whole thing left us wondering: just how much will Spidey's P.O.V. be a part of the finished film when it hits theaters next July? Not much at all, apparently.

"[There] are also moments we really wanted to embrace this experiential process of 3-D," Webb told us about Spidey Vision while at San Diego Comic-Con. "The teaser is a hint at some of that."

Like all universes, Marvel’s cinematic one is rapidly expanding, with this year’s “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” building anticipation to a fever pitch for next summer’s “The Avengers.” Now, for the first time, the studio is trying its hand at live-action shorts, the first of which, “Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant,” will appear on next month’s “Thor” Blu-ray, hitting stores on September 13. You can get a sneak peek at the short now:

Part of the “Marvel One-Shots” initiative, the short film will feature Clark Gregg, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson in “Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “The Avengers,” acting as a common, human-level thread throughout Marvel’s recent releases. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Marvel even screened an early look at “The Consultant,” before Gregg himself took the stage to discuss the project.
