It's one thing to see an "Avengers" teaser that offers quick glimpses at Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It's a completely different thing seeing them fight shoulder-to-shoulder.

Finally, we've got our first look at two of the greatest Marvel Studios heroes — this summer's box office champions, Captain America and Thor, to be precise — stepping into the ring and kicking villainous tail alongside each other. To add anything more might be saying too much, so click past the jump if you aren't afraid of a few potential spoilers!

Greg NicoteroLooking back, it should come as no surprise that AMC’s “The Walking Dead” was such a huge success. Not only did it boast a killer high concept, but it had a murderer’s row of talent involved behind the scenes, including series creator Robert Kirkman, adaptation specialist Frank Darabont and special effects legend, Greg Nicotero.

Nicotero, who is up for Emmys for both Outstanding Special Effects for a Series as well as Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, recently spoke to Deadline about his technique on the show, and some of the specific challenges that went into the series’ very first episode.

“The Walking Dead” is filled to bursting with disgusting, rotting, desiccated undead corpses, but the season premiere in particular boasts a true wealth of nastiness. One scene, which featured the half-bodied “Bicycle Girl” crawling through a park, was so shockingly realistic that it set off a remarkable amount of Internet speculation about how Nicotero made it happen. Fortunately, the special effects wizard was kind enough to peel the curtain back for Deadline and his fans.

Fright NightReports that the West Memphis Three might be released from prison raised interest in their situation on Twitter this morning. Their murder case has long been a topic of speculation, and many, including Joe Hill and Gerry Duggan, look forward to seeing them freed.

Some fine picto-tweets showed up today, too, with Terry Moore making a Nancy Callahan sketch post and Stan Lee sharing hangout pic with some "Glee" folks. Links to those can be found after the jump along with the number of times Christopher Mintz-Plasse plans on seeing "Fright Night" today and news that ROM: Spaceknight fans may find to be of interest.

CatwomanThere are many extreme diets stars have gone on to look good in their upcoming roles, but if Anne Hathaway is telling the truth then her Catwoman diet for "The Dark Knight Rises" is a bit extreme.

"I’m like living on kale and dust for training,” Hathaway told Chelsea Lately on her talk show. “The catsuit’s unforgiving, man."

Apparently, in addition to being a pain to look good in the catsuit, it's also a pain to get into the catsuit. Hathaway said it takes three people to get her into the suit, and a lot of mental preparation. It was a lot of effort to act in it over the six month shoot, but in the end Hathaway said it was worth it.

Iron ManWith "The Avengers" just about wrapped, Robert Downey Jr. is ready to talk "Iron Man 3."

“My sense of it is that we need to leave it all on the field — whatever that means in the end,” he told The Los Angeles Times. “You can pick several different points of departure for that.”

Fortunately he's still got two years until the movie hits theaters, and that leaves plenty of time for him and writer/director Shane Blake to figure out how "Iron Man 3" will continue on from where Jon Favreau left off in the previous two films. It also needs to transition from "The Avengers" back to the single-hero Marvel film.

ConanOK, so it’s not exactly Han Solo having a space race with Captain Kirk, but when the star of the new “Conan” movie, Jason Momoa, sat down with our other favorite Conan, Mr. O’Brien, we were still pretty excited.

Somewhat disappointingly, the late-night talk show host wasn’t named after Robert E. Howard’s most famous creation, but instead, a slightly less badass “Gaelic bishop from like a thousand years ago.” Still, O’Brien has had to live under the long shadow of the Cimmerian barbarian for decades, pointing out subtle differentiations between the pronunciation of his name, and that of the fictional character.

“For years, I grew up with the name ‘Conan’,” he explained. “In the comic book and in the movie that Arnold Schwarzenegger made, it was ‘CO-nan.’ So people used to come up to me as a kid and go, ‘Hey, CO-nan!’ and I would say, ‘It’s ‘Conan’,’ and then they would beat me about the head and shoulders.”

We all spent hours as kids poring over “Where’s Waldo” books, desperately searching for that friendly face with his white and red striped shirt and hat. Well, this Friday’s “Griff the Invisible” keeps Waldo’s hiding skills, switches out his trademark red and white for black and yellow, adds some major social awkwardness, and throws in some superhero spandex to produce Griff.

Played by “True Blood’sRyan Kwanten, Griff is a regular office worker by day who simply wants to blend in with the crowd and not be noticed at all. But when night falls, he straps on his spandex and confidently roams the streets seeking criminals. Unfortunately, his protection seems unwanted by most until he meets Melody, his partner in crime and ladylove.

While the film is probably only comprehensible by adults, Kwanten told MTV News that a much younger generation was behind the inspiration of the movie.

Conan"Conan the Barbarian" may attract some audience members based solely on its bare-chested sword fights and monsters this week. For Matt Fraction, however, the key selling point seems to be Morgan Freeman's voice (or that of someone who sounds suspiciously similar to Freeman).

Joe Hill, meanwhile, dug BBC America's new spy show "The Hours." His micro-review, a hint about a change in "Batman Beyond" and a tease from Fred Van Lente about a new project he's working on piqued our interest in the feed this morning and made the retweet list.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 18, 2011.
